𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗛𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗬 This morning, we hosted Mayor Caroline Woodley and Cllr Guy Nicholson, Deputy Mayor for Delivery, Inclusive Economy & Regeneration of the London Borough of Hackney., as part of our flagship Breakfast Waffle series. One of the capital's most progressive, diverse, and creative boroughs, Hackney continues to be a leading voice at the forefront of East London's growing economy, offering great investment opportunities for the built-environment community and innovative spaces for local artists and makers. Mayor Woodley and Cllr Nicholson spoke passionately about their ambitious plans and vision for the future of the borough to tackle the housing, cost of living, and cross-national opportunities head-on – and more importantly how to get involved. If you’re interested in attending our next event, get in touch ➡️ marketing@londoncommunications.co.uk.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀? 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲. In this week’s Social Housing Weekly, LCA Director Harriet Shone and Account Executive Peter Lord once again face-off, this time about Labour’s ‘New Towns’ policy. Peter loves it but Harriet worries that a focus on new towns might mean neglecting building new homes where people already want to live – in cities like London. Have a read and let us know who you agree with ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ejV7-WD6

We are pleased to announce that Latimer by Clarion Housing Group have received resolution to grant planning permission from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for the redevelopment of the historic London Chest Hospital site in Bethnal Green following over two years of consultation and engagement with the local community. This landmark project will transform the disused site into a thriving community with 274 new homes; 50% of which will be affordable housing, including 76 new Social Rented homes, underscoring our commitment to addressing housing needs and fostering inclusive communities. Our vision, which has been brought to life by Stirling Prize winning architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris reserving and restoring the Grade II-listed main hospital building, the Sanitary Tower and the South Wing. In addition, five new buildings will be constructed, providing high-quality new housing and importantly we will be preserving the veteran Mulberry tree, one of East London's most cherished natural landmarks. The design of the scheme will also result in the creation of high quality publicly accessible open spaces including a new square on St James’s Avenue and restoration of the formal lawn in front of the hospital as a public lawn. There will also be commercial space provided within the South Wing for a café and for community use. Richard Cook, Group Director of Development at Latimer, says: "This project represents a unique opportunity to blend the historical significance of the site with contemporary housing needs. Our commitment to providing a high proportion of affordable homes and preserving the Mulberry tree reflects our dedication to creating sustainable and inclusive communities."
