On Wednesday we visited Patron member Middlesex University for a tour of the state-of-the-art sports and health facility located within the Saracens StoneX Stadium. We met with Vice Chancellor Professor Shân Wareing and her colleagues to discuss Middlesex’s vision for transforming learning and the steps it has taken to deliver practice-oriented education and impactful research and engagement. Fiona Suthers, Head of Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, showed us around the incredible Nursing and Midwifery Department, Professor Sally Priest and Professor Gary Hix took us around the Natural Sciences Department and Jon Cree gave us a tour of the impressive London Sports Institute. It was inspiring to see the dedication of the department leads, their enthusiasm for the subjects they teach and the way their transformational learning bridges the gap between education and the workplace, setting their students up for life after university. Universities like Middlesex are essential for inspiring innovation, creativity and entrepreneurialism and cultivating the next generation of professionals and leaders. We look forward to continuing our work with the University to advocate on their behalf and unlock opportunities for growth within education in London and beyond.

Networking at its best ✨ We were delighted to welcome 230 guests from London’s dynamic business community to our flagship Annual Summer Party at Westminster Abbey College Garden. The inaugural meeting of LCCI's Property and Construction Forum took place yesterday afternoon at Mishcon de Reya LLP, hosted by the forum's Chair, Susan Freeman 🎤🎧, Partner at Mishcon de Reya and host of the Propertyshe podcast.   The forum brings together key industry figures to identify and campaign with policy makers on the issues affecting the sector, as well as building a strong peer-to-peer network.   This meeting looked at the property and construction industry in the city, and LCCI's work within it. A discussion was then held on the key issues affecting the industry and the role LCCI and this new forum can play in addressing these. Yesterday we launched our Capital 500 report at haysmacintyre, with James Rentoul, Senior Director at Savanta giving attendees a great overview of the findings.   We enjoyed a debate regarding the findings, moderated by our very own Stephen Jones, Research and Policy Manager at LCCI, with a panel comprising of James Watkins, Head of Policy and Public Impact at LCCI, and Vicky Pryce, Chief Economic Adviser and Board Member at the Centre for Economics and Business Research, who provided expert analysis on the state of the economy. Today marks the launch of the Capital 500 Q2 report, London's quarterly economic survey conducted by LCCI. The Capital 500 is London's biggest and most representative business survey and has been used to gauge business performance and confidence levels across the capital for over a decade.   Our polling has revealed a notable improvement in cash flow during the second quarter of 2024, as well as increased confidence in the economy and expected turnover in the next 12 months📈   🗣️Karim Fatehi MBE, Chief Executive at LCCI: "This positive trend not only reflects our city's resilience but also underscores the crucial role economic stability plays in fostering growth and prosperity. Last week was India Week 2024, a week-long celebration of India going global.
