About us

At Lidl, we’re a pretty close bunch. Sure, we all bring something unique to the table — but when you scratch below the surface, we’ve also got a whole lot in common. We’re plate spinners and problem solvers, working hard to keep homes stocked up across the UK. Just like you. We opened the doors to our first Lidl GB store in 1994. Today, three decades later, we’re proud to have more than 960 stores and 14 regional distribution centres filled with 33,000 exceptional colleagues across Great Britain - and we're still growing. The secret to our success? Offering the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. A commitment to the very best service. And a group of incredible colleagues to take us forward and into the future. Our journey is moulded by you — the things that set you apart and the things that make us one amazing team. No matter your role, you’ll find that you can make your mark on our success story. We’re always looking for motivated people who are ready to make our stores, supply chains, and shopping experience the best they can be. Whoever you are, whatever your interests and wherever you come from, there’s never been a better time to be Lidl like us.

We're raising the steaks for sustainable beef. 🥩   As part of a market-leading programme, we’re partnering with British beef suppliers whilst also injecting £1.5 billion into the British beef industry over the next five years, as part of our wider commitment to sourcing 100% fresh British beef. Here’s how we’re making that difference:   ♻ Launched our Sustainable Beef Group to support farmers transitioning to sustainable practices, financially rewarding them for achieving a reduction in carbon intensity, alongside adopting regenerative farming techniques to improve grazing management, biodiversity, and soil and water quality parameters that are unique to each farm. ♻ Partnered with Promar, an independent agricultural and sustainability consultancy, to assess the carbon footprint of hundreds of farms, tailoring advice to reduce carbon emissions and support the sustainable growth of their businesses. ♻ Set ambitious targets in collaboration with our supplier, Dunbia, which will see it reduce scope 3 emissions intensity by 28% per tonne of finished product, by 2030. This supports our wider scope 3 science-aligned climate targets.   Richard Bourns, our Chief Commercial Officer, said: “As one of the largest buyers of British beef, we recognise our responsibility to support farmers adopt sustainable practices. This market-leading programme underpins our long-term commitment to buying 100% British, whilst investing significantly in sustainable practices that exceed industry standards. It ensures our customers can continue to enjoy the best in high-quality, sustainably sourced British beef at the lowest possible prices."   #SustainableBeef #BritishAgriculture #CarbonEmissions

🏆 Extra Time for Celebration! 🏆 As the country gears up for the highly anticipated 2024 European Football Championship final, we’ve made the decision to open our stores in England an hour later on Monday 15th July, regardless of the match outcome. ⚽️ This special adjustment ensures that our hardworking colleagues can enjoy some post-match celebrations and - hopefully - revel in the national team's triumph. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿   Our CEO, Ryan McDonnell, said: "We know how much this game means to England fans, and we want to ensure that our colleagues have the chance to celebrate such a significant moment in English football history. We couldn’t achieve our goals without our colleagues, so in recognition of their hard work and dedication, this move will allow them to join in the excitement and show support for the England team, and we wish them the best of luck for the big game.” #Lidl #TeamLidl #Euros2024 #EmployeeAppreciation #FootballFever

🔋⚡ In a UK supermarket first, Lidl customers charging their electric vehicles will soon be able to pay via our rewards app, Lidl Plus. 📱 🚗   This is the latest development for our hugely popular rewards scheme and follows an investment of over £15 million into our electric vehicle charging infrastructure since 2017. We now have over 370 charging points across our stores, including 300 rapid chargers. The transition will start this summer and be rolled out nationwide by the end of the year.   Commenting on the move, our Chief Development Officer, Richard Taylor, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Lidl. Since we opened our first store 30 years ago, Lidl has contributed to a shift in the way that people shop for their groceries, and this is the latest example of how we’re doing just that, so that we can further enhance our customers’ shopping experience.” #EVCharging #ElectricVehicles

What a busy month June was for our Property teams. 🧱   In addition to calling on contractors nationwide to join us at a series of events throughout July, our acquisitions teams hosted successful events at Lidl House (our HQ), Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. We welcomed over 250 agents, developers, residential providers and Councils, all of whom play an instrumental role in helping us achieve our ambition to open hundreds of new stores. 🛒   A big thank you to those who came along! For anyone that would like to see where we’re looking for sites, you can see the full list in our site requirements brochure here: https://lnkd.in/eFpmtq5k #Lidlrealestate #Property

Pride hasn’t just been celebrated internally at Lidl, we had a great time joining the festivities with our amazing communities! Here are the brilliant activations we’ve been a part of…🌈💛   We were lucky enough to go to Birmingham Pride for the second year in a row and our first ever London Pride. Over 100 of our amazing colleagues joined the parades across both cities, enjoying rooftop views of supporters from the buses or walked alongside our friends at the NSPCC! 🚍🎉   We also partnered up with Mighty Hoopla festival in London’s Brockwell Park, a festival dedicated to inclusivity. We brought along our 360 camera, Lidl Plus glitter zone, handed out fresh fruit skewers and served slushies, with all profits going to the NSPCC. 💚   What an amazing month it’s been! #LondonPride #BirminghamPride #Celebrations

It has been a busy Pride month at Lidl GB, so we wanted to shine a light on some of the activities that have taken place! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️   We’ve been celebrating our incredible LGBTQ+ colleagues, sharing their stories, lived experiences, and celebrating everyone's journey. One of the stories that was shared came from Andy Cole, one of our brilliant Regional Directors and how he works to foster a truly inclusive workspace where colleagues can express themselves freely and feel heard.   We didn't stop there! Wonderful Pride celebrations were held in all of our regions, including at Lidl House where colleagues received an inspiring talk by the 'Sinnerman' Paul Sinha from ITV's 'The Chase'! Paul spoke on his experience of coming out and the importance of LGBTQ+ representation.🗣️   Plus, we shared a number of tools, encouraging colleagues to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community and how we can support. We're proud members of Stonewall's 'Diversity Champions' program, and we've launched a managers guide to support transgender colleagues. 🏳️⚧️   Let's carry on keeping these conversations open and create a supportive environment for everyone! ❤️ 💙 💚 💛 💜 🧡   Stay tuned as we share more on how we celebrated Pride Month!   #Pride #Celebration #TeamLidl
