On Monday, a group of our employees joined GreenTheUK and the Royal Forestry Society at Battram Wood, Leicestershire. The day included: 🌳 a guided walk of the woodland and learning to identify tree species, plus how to tell if an ash tree was suffering from ash dieback disease 🌳 learning about the challenges our woodlands are facing due to climate change 🌳 working together to transform an overgrown area into a new educational space 🌳 planting a Malice Fiesta apple tree along the bridleway 🌳 learning how to safely light a fire in the wild using a flint and striker, plus toasting marshmallows! It was another fantastic event to contribute to our ongoing efforts of being a carbon neutral business and looking after the planet. #treeplanting #climatechange #carbonneutral #protectwoodland

In her first speech as Chancellor, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves said the Government would consult on reform to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) before the end of July, and restore mandatory housing targets. Lawrence Turner, Director at Leaders Romans Group's planning and design consultancy Boyer, believes regional housebuilding plans championed by Gordon Brown’s government are a good place for The Labour Party to start. These regional spatial strategies earmarked areas of green belt land for housing in areas outside London, but were scrapped by the The Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats Coalition government. He says, “It was just bad timing that then in came the Cameron government, and they brought in localism, and decided that regional planning was undemocratic and it’d be far better to let local people choose where new homes are built and how many, and 14 years later, we don’t have enough new homes, and we don’t have enough homes being built in the right locations.” Click through to read the article in full, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below! #housingtargets #housingcrisis #planningreform #housebuilding #boyer

What are you concerned about with the general election tomorrow when it comes to the private rental sector? We've surveyed our landlords and tenants to understand the growing anxieties about the potential impact it could have on the PRS. The results reveal significant concerns over proposed rent controls, property taxes, and regulatory changes, urging political leaders to consider the far-reaching implications of their policies. Allison Thompson MARLA comments "This survey highlights the critical concerns faced by both landlords and tenants in today's volatile market. The start of a new parliamentary term presents a pivotal moment for the party in power to address these issues with balanced and thoughtful policies. It's essential that we create a fair and sustainable rental environment that supports both landlords' ability to invest and maintain properties and tenants' access to affordable housing." Commenting on Berkeley Homes announcement that they plan a strategic move into the Build to Rent sector Andy Jones, Group Director of Corporate at LRG says, "It is great to see developers with the strength and depth of Berkeley now committing to BTR in a big way as demand for affordable, well presented, energy efficient and professionally managed rental stock continues to grow at pace. It will be important for success to obtain support from companies like LRG with deep experience in institutional grade design, leasing and management and eventually the selling of these investment portfolios for best return exit strategies." #btr #buildtorent #renting #rentalmarket #threesixtyspace
