We had a fantastic time celebrating the launch of our latest sustainable branch, Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne! We had a great turn out, and RNLI cut the ribbon. The star of the show was the branch's unofficial office mascot Frank, a gorgeous elderly brown lab, who came along wearing a silver bow tie (Frank loves to visit daily for his biscuit!). What is different about our sustainable branches? 🌱 fully powered by renewable green energy 🌱 low-VOC paints release less gas than traditional paints 🌱 low-flow taps save up to 50% of water consumption 🌱 all fixtures and fittings were chosen to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with many retained from the existing branch to further reduce carbon footprint 🌱 all wood sourced from locally produced FSC-certified wood 🌱 carpet is made from 65% post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will repurpose and recycle the finished item when it reaches the end of life 🌱 ceiling tiles are manufactured in the UK using bio-soluble mineral wool, perlite, clay and starch. On Monday, a group of our employees joined GreenTheUK and the Royal Forestry Society at Battram Wood, Leicestershire. The day included: 🌳 a guided walk of the woodland and learning to identify tree species, plus how to tell if an ash tree was suffering from ash dieback disease 🌳 learning about the challenges our woodlands are facing due to climate change 🌳 working together to transform an overgrown area into a new educational space 🌳 planting a Malice Fiesta apple tree along the bridleway 🌳 learning how to safely light a fire in the wild using a flint and striker, plus toasting marshmallows!
