Let’s journey back to where it all began at Kilfrost! In 1933, Joseph Halbert was inspired by the resilience of a well-known flower – the snowdrop – and developed a product that would “kill the frost”. Throughout the next decade our innovations and achievements snowballed. We secured our first aviation contract as the sector grew, defrosted the Newcastle United football pitch and supported the RAF’s air defence during the second world war. And that was just the beginning! About us
Kilfrost has been proudly family-owned and run for three generations, and we remain as committed to innovation and to the research and development of next generation products as our founder, Joseph Halbert, was when he developed a de-icing product inspired by the humble snowdrop. From the development of world-first fluids for the protection of aircraft during World War Two, to the introduction of radiator anti-freeze used by Antarctic expeditions, and on to the first-ever use of a bio-derived glycol for an industry (and world) first eco fluid, we are the original pioneers and still lead the way today. Now serving the aviation, rail and ground sectors through our winter products division, and the heating, cooling, and ventilation sectors through our speciality fluids division, we provide exceptional products, unparalleled expertise, and unrivalled customer care. Our new range of next-generation Heat Transfer Fluids including Kilfrost GLV, Kilfrost ALV, Kilfrost ALV Plus and Kilfrost GEO, has been developed in line with the need to overcome the well-recognised dilemma that most fluid users have to battle between efficiency and safety. The new Kilfrost LV range has viscosity profiles at low temperatures which are equal to, or better than, that of MEG, but are only based on food-safe materials. These improved viscosity profiles allow higher heat transfer and lower system pressure drops, leading to savings in pump energy usage of up to 30% over traditional fluids. In consequence, there is no longer a need to compromise between efficiency and safety – the Kilfrost LV range offers both. For more information, do visit www.kilfrost.com.
