🗣️ "There's a very, very significant risk that we see what we've seen with tech in other fields – that it becomes a winner-takes-all dynamic..." - Peter Elwin, Director of Fixed Income, Head of Food & Land Use Programme, Planet Tracker 🌍 Our food and agricultural sectors are both major contributors to climate change and vulnerable targets of its impacts on weather variability and extremes. 💡 By harnessing the power of climate-smart technologies and the latest innovations, we can boost the adaptability and productivity of our food systems, and also speed up our shift to a zero-emission system. Supply Change Capital's Shayna Harris joined Peter, Calum Murray (Innovate UK), Duncan Williams (Forum for the Future) and Christopher Johnstone (Remediiate) to explore how the latest advancements in technology can help to reduce GHG emissions in the Food & Agri sectors and create new opportunities for economic growth. 📽️ View the full discussion here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ejfzazvT

#ClimateAction is a priority for #Portsmouth residents The latest Savanta survey reveals that an overwhelming majority of Portsmouth residents are concerned about climate change and demand more robust government action. #DemandForAction: 👉 74% of those surveyed worry about climate change's impact on their local environment. 👉 82% of people feel that there is a need to reduce these carbon emissions 👉 A resounding 98% believe the government should intensify efforts to address climate and #energy challenges. "We recognize the urgency of the climate crisis," said Bennett Iorio, spokesperson for AQUIND. "AQUIND is committed to #sustainability and being part of the climate solution. The AQUIND Interconnector will annually reduce UK carbon emissions by the equivalent of 600,000 cars off the road and help avoid using approximately 92,000 GWh of fossil fuels in power generation." We fully support the recent #KingsSpeech urging climate action. Our interconnector aims to bolster the UK’s #EnergySecurity and significantly reduce #carbon #emissions by up to 25 million tonnes of CO2. Stay tuned as we reveal more from this pivotal poll. How important is climate action to you, and what steps do you think should be taken? Share your thoughts with us!

🗣️ "The cleanest type of energy is the energy you never have to create." - Professor Paul Monks, Chief Scientific Adviser, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero 🪫 In response to the energy crisis, global policy momentum built around energy efficiency; however, this progress has been countered by economic and environmental trends that are pushing up global energy demand. Centre for Net Zero (Octopus Energy Group)'s Lucy Yu joined Prof. Monks, Brendan Reidenbach (International Energy Agency (IEA)), Trevor Hutchings (BIP) and Anna Carolina Tortora (National Grid ESO) to debate how we can accelerate the transition to energy systems that are efficient, digitally-enabled and flexible. 📽️ View the full discussion here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ebP5DPDZ
