Hey everyone! Did you know yesterday 30 June was Democratic Republic of the Congo's Independence Day? 🇨🇩 A day to celebrate the country's incredible history, vibrant culture, and the enduring spirit of its people! However, Congo also faces significant challenges which lack mainstream attention. In March 2024, the UN reported that the number of internally displaced people in DRC had reached 7.2 million-one of the largest in the world. Thousands of families are on the roads or in camps without water, food, or shelter. We created this special Congo activity pack which explores the wonders of the Kuba Kingdom, the inspiring story of Patrice Lumumba, the remarkable activist Rebecca Kabugho, and the musical legend Fally Ipupa. It's a fun way for all ages to learn about Congo and celebrate its spirit. We sent out this pack to all our subscribers in June. If you're not subscribed and would like your own pack, please comment "CONGO" below and we'll send you the digital download link. All proceeds from these downloads will go to @gomaactif, a vital independent non-profit citizens' initiative. Goma Actif mobilizes volunteers to deliver food, water, shelter, and medical care directly to families impacted by the conflict in North Kivu. By supporting them, we can make a real difference in the lives of those in need. #Congo #KubaKingdom #patricelumumba #rebeccaKabugho #Fallylpupa #ChildrensActivities #africanhistory #SupportCongo #GomaActif

The monthly subscription box that aims to inspire by providing quality black children's books and empowering activities!
About us
Imagine Me Stories is a monthly subscription box that aims to inspire and educate by providing quality black children's literature and African/black history activities. Why is this needed? Research shows that only 1% of children's books published in the UK have black main characters. Representation is vital to ensure that children see positive views of themselves and what they can achieve in society. We are here to make it easy to discover representative books and learn about key trailblazers and icons in the black community! Working with UK schools Imagine Me Stories also works with UK schools to help improve the diversity of their libraries to ensure they representative of the BAME students who attend.

Did you know that less than 4% of children's books feature a Black main character? Never let anyone tell you that representation doesn’t matter. Every child deserves to see themselves positively represented in the books they read. #blackchildrensbooks #booksubscription #representationmatters #diversebooks #imaginemestories #kidlit #ownvoices
