Major scheme announcement 📣 Esh Construction has begun work on the first phase of 750 affordable homes at Seaham Garden Village in partnership with Karbon Homes. A ground-breaking ceremony has marked the start on site for the scheme at County Durham’s first ‘garden village’. The new homes will be built to the very latest building standards, ensuring they are fit for the future, and will boast a range of energy efficient technologies, including solar photovoltaic panels and battery storage units. The aim is for all 750 homes to be net zero carbon. The 78-hectare garden village, located on the A182 going into Seaham town centre, will be landscape-led with sustainability and community spirit at its heart. Very pleased to be a winner at the RTPI awards on Friday night for Plan Making in Practice in the North East.
Congratulations to IDPartnership and Gateshead Council for winning the 2024 Excellence in Plan Making Practice in the North East. Gateshead Examplar Neighbourhood SPD is a highly graphical SPD document that is helping create a climate resilient low carbon urban neighbourhood for all ages. Judges commented, The SPD is leading the way in process capturing digital and interactive software to broaden engagement with youth, women and other groups within workshop sessions and obtaining 1,000 responses. The focus on sustainability is clear. This is a site in the town centre that will help to strengthen viable facilities. The opportunities for higher density homes; to connect to a district heating network; and a target to develop carbon zero housing will help to drive down costs for residents whilst mitigate the impacts of climate change. Hugh Daglish said “ID Partnership entered the RTPI awards as they recognise excellence in planning and help showcase the skills, work and ability of ID Partnership working in partnership with clients to achieve good quality placemaking. The awards are well known in the North East and nationally with an audience which extends beyond town planners to include architects, local authorities, developer, RSLs and other development related businesses. We had an amazing couple of days last week touring residential best practice case studies in the North with David Birkbeck. Hosting a number of our clients, we visited new and innovative schemes which were a mixture of regeneration and new build developments, all with a strong emphasis on placemaking. A fantastic and insightful few days had by all!

The apartment building is up, the roof is on, and the scaffolding is coming down. See the latest progress on site at Gresham in Middlesbrough 👇 Internal works in the 35-home building are now making headway, with block one now ready for decoration, first fix ongoing in block two, and plastering and second fix underway in blocks three and four. With the first handovers due in the summer, elsewhere on site 19 houses are ready for decoration and ten bungalows are at first fix stage. A progress update from Grove Hill, where Esh Construction is delivering a £56 million scheme for Thirteen Group 👀 The site will become home to 296 two, three and four-bedroom houses and bungalows. The project is being delivered in six phases, with more than 180 units across the phases currently in build and progressing at varying stages. 👉 62 homes with roofs tiled. 👉 Internal works progressing in 40 units. 👉 First fix ongoing or nearing completion in 53 properties. Our housing infrastructure division, Lumsden & Carroll Civil Engineering, is currently on site delivering Section 278 works for phase six. What an end to the year.. after over 3 years of determined master planning and detailed building design work the team at IDP are delighted that the new 14,000 sqm Tyne Coast College project received planning approval this week.
