THE PROACTIVE VS REACTIVE RECRUITMENT CONUNDRUM ............... With the election now over, most are still waiting for interest rate changes to come into play before feeling comfortable to push the button on "New Hires" The UK Consultancy market has seen a huge slow down since Q4 last year and whilst there has been some activity, most of this has been driven by general and expected natural churn of employees across the industry making moves with firms needing to replace those individuals. We have seen very little "Growth" within businesses. Whilst we have heard the phrase "Survive till 25" being banded around certain firms, our advice is to use this time to reflect on your internal Processes and Procedures surrounding recruitment. Reviewing the PSL and the relationships you have with agencies and how they can continue to add value whilst not directly recruiting for your firm. Given the amount of press on new schemes going through planning, the Labour Gov agenda regarding Planning and New Construction, a highly likely drop in Interest Rates before the end of the year our advice is to start being "Proactive" when it comes to recruitment. Having seen this cycle multiple times, the leading firms are one step ahead and already have conversations ongoing with future talent putting themselves in the best position when the market turns to bring in the best available talent. The "reactive" recruitment model doesn't work in the medium to long term and can have significant impact on your business moving forward.
