Have you heard about the Mobility Transition? It’s a movement that is needed to reduce carbon emissions produced by the transport industry. Rail is the green travel alternative to cars and planes. According to an EEA study, air travel is reported to be 20 times worse for emissions than rail. By offering more high-speed rail services, we give people more options for #sustainable travel. Our #digital technology connects urban centres and cities, which enables people to avoid using their cars. By alleviating congestion and enhancing connectivity, we’re helping to build cleaner, safer, and greener societies around the world. Our autonomous metro system for Honolulu has been in service for one year, since Sunday! During that time, it’s transported over one million passengers. The Honolulu Skyline connects the island of Oahu, Hawaii with sustainable travel, transitioning from a history of heavy reliance on car use. As a safe, comfortable and sustainable option for travel, our metro system has made a huge impact on the quality of life in Honolulu. With cleaner air and less congestion, this is a great example of Hitachi Rail’s Social Innovation work to improve infrastructure for societies around the world. Segment two of the project will see the network expand further across Honolulu. It reached an electrification milestone earlier in June, which marks the continuation of testing and commissioning. We’re so pleased to be part of this project to transform sustainability in Hawaii. Read the press release to find out more: https://bit.ly/3RThtuJ
