What we do At Higher Group, we spend an unusual amount of time talking and thinking about recruitment. We do four things: 1) We help recruitment companies find great people. 2) We act as career partners to recruitment professionals, helping you identify the opportunities that can take you to the next stage of your career. 3) We help aspiring recruiters find the right place to start their career- whether you’re a graduate, salesperson or an ambitious teenager with a point to prove. 4) We help entrepreneurial recruitment professionals start their own recruitment companies What we think Recruitment is Important (but hard) In its most simple form, any company or organisation is just a group of people- trying to achieve something together. As recruiters, we focus all of our efforts on that simple but vital asset- the people. Recruitment is Good (but hard) Despite the tedious recruiter bashing, we know that our industry is a vibrant, exciting and diverse place to work. An industry that gives people the chance to learn important skills, travel the world and get stuck into business in a way other industries just can’t match. Recruitment is Fun (but hard) No offence to accountants. But can you imagine being an accountant! Staring at spreadsheets all day, every day. Recruitment is the people business- we find people, for people. Yes, they can be a nightmare. But they can also be fascinating, hilarious and very, very surprising. It’s like an adventure, but with KPI’s.

    Celebrating the team who keeps the wheels turning! 🧡 Last Friday, The Ops team (we missed you Jennifer Rawsthorne 😞) enjoyed an early finish to celebrate their successes so far for 2024. A non-billing role within the recruitment industry can often be over-looked with no target-driven metrics in place. At Higher Group we're so fortunate that we're recognised for our contributions week in and week out. We had the best time wine tasting & indulging in tapas, followed by lots more drinks & of course the wind blew us to a recruiters stomping ground.. Albert Schloss 🥂 Super grateful to our leaders for always ensuring everyone in the business is included. Now to celebrate Q2 at the races with the team tomorrow! 🐎

    'The Fastest Growing recruiters pay the most commission, are likely to use a tiered scheme and are less likely to have a threshold' Thats according to Konquest 2024 Recruitment Census. The Most Profitable recruitment firms? They do a similar thing, but they DO have a threshold. At Higher Group, we have found that a threshold helps ensure profitable growth and have had one in place since day 1. Our thinking is that as long as contribution is even across the team, the thresholds ensure costs are covered and bonus is always awarded from profit. It takes some of the thinking out of things and acts as a safeguard. Within 6 months most recruiters at HG are on 30% commission (after threshold), with a higher tiers available for promotions and top performance. What does your business do?

    Last Friday, in spirit of National Golf day and our MD's birthday, some of the lads enjoyed an early finish and headed down to The Mere for a little friendly competition in the sun. The results were: 1st place - Green team (Congrats to Danny Mac and Jake for remaining undefeated) 2nd place - Blue team 3rd place - White team ( FYI - all team members are Directors. Which shows, you can't be good at everything 😉) Some key takeaways from the day: 🏌♂️ James sunk a 70 foot putt (apparently this is almost unheard of) and everyone went wild, celebrating dancing etc. After that, the only notable shot he had was nearly killing a duck in the pond. Standard. 🏌♂️The Green & Blue team managed to play the wrong hole. 🏌♂️The White team were called by management and asked to hurry up as they were the slowest ‘golfers’ in the history of the sport. Yikes. 🏌♂️Jake has been on the winning team twice despite the fact he is possibly the worst player we have ever seen (Sorry Jake) 🏌♂️Longest Drive and closest to the pin were both won by Harry (Bandit) All in all it seemed like the lads had a great day, despite some very questionable sunburn the following day. *Disclaimer* no ducks/birds/wildlife were harmed during the p*ss poor golf performance contrary to what you may believe.

She began her journey as a fresh grad, after countless promotions Toni worked her way up to becoming Managing Director, and has now set up her own recruitment agency. In this episode Toni discusses the importance of businesses having a strong female role model, and how emotional support should be implemented for every consultant during the lows of recruitment.
