Last month hundreds of employees from across the West Midlands business community laced up their boots to help raise more than £20,000 in our annual six-a-side football tournament. The majority of the £20,000 raised will be donated to Higgs’ charity of the year, Dudley Community First Responders along with local charities. A huge thank you to all our teams, supporters, suppliers and to our fabulous venue, Stourbridge Rugby. It would not be possible without your contribution. Checkout the highlights 👇 We’re also pleased to announce that our next tournament will be taking place on Thursday 19 June 2025. If you are interested in getting involved next year, whether it be taking part or sponsoring the event please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Clare Griffiths at events@higgsllp.co.uk. #Higgsfooty #charity #communitymatters #fundraising #networking #PeopleDriven #LegalExcellence

Research consistently tells us that family businesses don't have effective succession plans. Plans fall into the difficult box: everyone is too caught up in the day-to-day doing and defaults to focusing on the business rather than the family in the business. In his latest article, Paul Hunt, Head of Succession Planning, discusses the family business and the next generation. https://bit.ly/3W9zMgK #WednesdayWisdom #SuccessionPlanning #FamilyBusiness

You would think that the humble garden fence or a leafy hedge is a reasonably risk-free structure. Cost of living crisis blamed for huge increase in inheritance disputes over relatives' wills Fights over wills that have ended up in court have risen from 145 to 195 between 2017 and 2022, while Google searches for 'disputing a will' have increased by 60 per cent in the past year alone. Aside from a certain football final, Sunday 14 July is also #BlackCountryDay! Although Higgs operates nationally, one of our core values is #authenticity and celebrating our roots is a vital part of our identity. We asked colleagues what they love about the region and put together the following summary. There were also some fascinating facts thrown in such as this one from Black Country aficionado Glyn Morris: "The Stourbridge Lion was a railroad steam locomotive. It was the first locomotive and the first foreign built locomotive to be operated in the United States, and one of the first locomotives to operate outside Britain. It takes its name from the lion's face painted on the front, and Stourbridge in England, where it was manufactured by the firm Foster, Rastrick and Company in 1829." Reanne Upton shared: "I was told in my English Language class at Uni that it is the closest dialect to the early English language." Happy Black Country Day to all of our clients and business partners. #ThisIsHiggs #PeopleDriven #LegalExcellence #Bostin #Proud Thanks to: Nyree Applegarth, Reanne Upton, Glyn Morris, Barbara Nicholls, Peter Quinn, Nicola Little, Anisa Sehdeva, Helena Flavell, Leigh-Anne Everall, Charlotte Orie and Lauren Moult

Some behind the scenes shots of our Big Green Atrium event where colleagues had the opportunity to purchase eco-friendly products and various other items, including plants, second hand books and of course, cake! All proceeds will be shared with our Charity of the Year, Dudley Community First Responders. We also collected old blankets, pillows and towels for local dogs' homes. Thank you to everyone for getting involved. #Green #Environment #ESG #GreenEvents #PeopleDriven #LegalExcellence
