About us

Hart Learning & Development is a progressive learning and development business which supports businesses of all sizes to engage with and invest in emerging talent. We start with our clients’ ambitions, plans and challenges in mind. Everything we do is about helping businesses to improve and grow. We help businesses of all sizes to attract and retain the talent they need – whether that’s working to engage young people about the world of work, recruiting and training the right talent, or providing opportunities for onward career progression. We’re really fortunate to be part of the Hart Learning Group. We learn something new every day from our friends in North Hertfordshire College and in the schools we sponsor through the Hart Schools Trust. Our advice about business engagement with young people is grounded in the first-hand experience of colleagues across the Group. We also get to draw on the huge pool of teaching expertise, and learning resources in the College.

Executive Director - Apprenticeships and Partnerships

There’s not really a day goes by when I’m not super proud of something a colleague does, or says, or achieves. That’s why I love being part of the Hart Learning & Development family. However, yesterday was very special. I was privelaged to attend the Lloyds Banking Group annual apprenticeship awards with Marie Kelly (who just so happens to be an amazing account manager). The event itself allowed time to reflect. There is such a strong partnership between the apprentices, line managers, coaches and ambassadors which is expertly guided by the amazing apprenticeship team. Of the three coach of the year finalists, two were Hart L&D. Michelle Stanton and Helen Hayes. I am delighted that Michelle won the award and that Helen was highly commended (it’s not every day a Functional Skills Tutor gets nominated by their apprentices). And I’m not just proud of Michelle and Helen, I’m proud of every Hart L&D colleague that goes above and beyond, every day, to get the the best outcomes for our apprentices and employer partners. I am in awe of you all. Thank you Kathryn Marshall MBE and all the team for such a lovely day which was so inspiring.

  • Shanaye and Tashan completed a Sector-based Work Academy Programme (also known as SWAP) with a local nursery through Hart Learning and Development 🚀 We are pleased to report that both Shanaye and Tashan have secured employment with the nursery as a result 🥳 Ozlem, manager of the nursery, noticed the positive impact the programme had on Shanaye and the other learners who came through the programme. She told us: "Shanaye starting with us is going amazingly well, she's so bright and always so positive. It's amazing that she did this course as it's given her that jump-start into working in childcare, providing her with knowledge and experience - even though she'd not worked with children before. She is always wanting to learn, and we are excited to watch her journey!" Could you support a SWAP candidate to recruit fresh talent for your team, like Ozlem did? 💪 Explore Sector-based Work Academy Programmes at Hart Learning and Development 👇 https://ow.ly/FvW550SvlPv

  • Dominique, Early Years Inclusion Specialist at Hertfordshire County Council, recently completed Functional Skills Maths and English with Hart Learning & Development 🚀 Now she has achieved these qualifications, Dominique is able to complete a degree in her specialism, furthering her professional skillset and optimising her company's operations. Dominique commented: "The highlight of my course has been passing my Level 2 and having fantastic support from my tutor Teresa, she has been encouraging, supportive and calm. Nothing was too much trouble and she kept me going. This qualification has closed a gap in my skill set for further development, which in turn supports the team/organisation." Employability Programme Manager at Hart Learning Group

Meet Brenda and her amazing Tutor Stephen! Brenda has recently completed our Hart Learning & Development 50+ Job Club and has successfully secured employment after being unemployed for a year. She was out of routine and felt her confidence was low. "It's amazing what can happen in 2 weeks!! I was offered a place on a 2 week course to update my knowledge and skills in Customer Service, Mental Health and Employment skills to help me get back into the workplace. During these 2 weeks I was contacted by an agency on the first Wednesday of the course and had a telephone interview for a Mortgage Administrator vacancy. Fast forward to the second Wednesday of the course and I had a face to face interview at their head office, and on the Thursday I was offered the job. I start in 1 weeks time. All this could not have happened without the support of my Tutor and the other course members giving me the necessary information and interview skills which helped to build my self-esteem and confidence back up!" Brenda Congratulations Brenda, we are all so proud of you! #employability #jobclub #50+ #ageisnothingbutanumber #barrierwhatbarrier

  • Peter completed our CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management with Hart Learning and Development - now, he is a People Manager for Wincanton, one of the UK's largest supply chain partners 🚀 Throughout the programme, Peter pushed himself out of his comfort zone to build upon his industry-skills as well as transferable qualities such as critical thinking and a strategic mindset. Peter commented: "My CIPD Level 5 HR Function certificate enables me to make valuable contributions to the business. The focus on employment law ensures our practices comply with regulations, mitigating legal risks. This qualification has given me the confidence and tools to really make an impact in my role. I can approach HR challenges with a fresh perspective. It feels great to have this solid foundation to build on as I continue growing in my HR career."
