Is your school up-to-date with Online Safety requirements? Here are some important Online Safety measures for schools and colleges to put in place. https://lnkd.in/eXcg5Eca The latest Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE) report outlines a variety of measures that should be in place in schools and colleges to ensure online safety. An Effective Approach to Online Safety: Schools and colleges should have an effective approach to online safety that protects and educates the whole school or college community in their use of technology and establishes mechanisms to identify, intervene in, and escalate any incident where appropriate. The Online Safety Policy: This should be reflected in the whole school or college approach to safeguarding and child protection. The policy should include measures to identify, intervene, and escalate any exposure to harmful content, contact with potentially dangerous individuals, and conduct (such as cyberbullying and sexting). Filtering and Monitoring: Schools and colleges should ensure appropriate levels of filtering and monitoring systems are in place. It's imperative to be clear about the level of monitoring that's taking place and why it's being done to identify and protect the students. See more below for definitions of filtering and monitoring. Education and Curriculum: Children should be taught about safeguarding, including online safety, as part of providing a broad and balanced curriculum. This education should be ongoing and embedded in student's experiences. Mobile Technology and Personal Devices: Policies should extend to the use of mobile technology and personal devices. While recognising their benefits for teaching and learning, there should be clear rules on their use to prevent and protect students from harm. Staff Training and Awareness: All staff should receive safeguarding and child protection training, which includes online safety. This should inform them about the school's or college's individual safeguarding policy and procedures, including the online safety policy. Governance: Governing bodies and proprietors should ensure that the school or college has appropriate filters and monitoring systems in place and consider the age range and needs of their pupils/students. They should ensure that policies are reviewed regularly and that practices are in accordance with local and national guidance. Supporting Parents and Carers: Schools and colleges should provide practical support and advice to parents and carers on keeping their children safe online, recognising the crucial role they play in children's education and the challenges they may face. These measures illustrate a comprehensive approach to online safety, integrating policy, education, technology, and community engagement to protect children in educational settings. #onlinesafety #safeguarding #schools #DSLs #teachers #safeguardingtraining #colleges #internetsafety #kcsie

AI in Education: A Dynamic Duo (Glimpse of the future) https://lnkd.in/dUGT7FXE In the ever-evolving world of education, artificial intelligence (AI) stands as a beacon of innovation, poised to transform the way we learn, teach, and interact with knowledge. This transformative force holds immense potential to enhance the learning experience, personalise education, and empower students to reach their full potential. As CEO of a UK-leading school Safeguarding training company, I speak with many school senior teams, here are my thoughts. Revolutionising the Classroom Imagine a classroom where AI seamlessly integrates with traditional teaching methods, creating a dynamic and personalised learning environment. Students are no longer recipients of knowledge; they are active participants, engaging in interactive learning activities and receiving real-time feedback tailored to their individual needs. Gemini: A Game-Changer in AI for Education AI trailblazers include Open AI's Chat gpt4 and Google's Bard, and there is a new one. Google's Gemini, a ground-breaking AI model, is poised to revolutionise the educational landscape. Its ability to process and generate text, translate languages, and answer questions in an informative way makes it a powerful tool for educators and learners alike. Personalised Learning: Empowering Each Student Gemini's ability to analyse complex student submissions and provide personalized feedback is a game-changer. Educators can leverage Gemini to identify specific areas where students need support, tailoring their instruction accordingly. AI-Powered Assessments: Objective and Instant Feedback Traditional assessments, often conducted in a summative manner, can provide valuable insights into student progress. However, AI-powered assessments offer a more dynamic and timely approach, providing immediate feedback that allows students to adjust their learning strategies and improve their understanding. Collaboration and Creativity: Fostering a Learning Community AI can also play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and creativity within the classroom. Gemini's ability to facilitate discussions and encourage idea sharing creates a vibrant learning community where students can learn from each other and expand their perspectives. AI: The Driving Force of Educational Excellence AI is not merely a technology; it's an agent of change that holds the key to unlocking the full potential of education. By harnessing the power of AI, we can create personalized, adaptive, and engaging learning experiences that empower students to become lifelong learners and innovators. Embrace the Future of Learning with AI As AI continues to evolve, its impact on education will only grow. By embracing this transformative technology, we can reimagine the learning experience, broaden horizons, and prepare the next generation for success in a rapidly changing world. #education #safeguarding #teaching #schools #AI

As a parent and someone who works very closely with schools, I've been inpired by The Dave Kitson Academy as a blueprint for all afterschool clubs. It shows that it's possible to develop children's skills holistically, both mentally and physically. Here are some key takeaways for parents and teachers: Afterschool clubs should not just focus on developing children's technical skills. They should also focus on developing their mental skills, such as their mindset, motivation, and resilience. Afterschool clubs should provide a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow. Afterschool clubs should be inclusive and accessible to all children, regardless of their background or ability. Parents and schools can use Dave Kitson's Academy as a model to create afterschool clubs that develop the whole child. Here are some specific ideas: Start a club that focuses on developing children's mental skills. This could include activities such as mindfulness, goal setting, and problem-solving. Partner with local sports teams or organizations to offer afterschool sports clubs that focus on both physical and mental development. Create afterschool clubs that are inclusive and accessible to all children. This could mean offering scholarships to low-income families or providing transportation to and from the club. By following Dave Kitson's lead, parents can create afterschool clubs that help children reach their full potential, both on and off the field. #teaching #education #schoolclubs

Youth vaping is a serious problem that can have harmful consequences for young people's health. Parents, caregivers, and schools all play a role in addressing this issue. By talking to young people about the risks of vaping and implementing policies that prohibit vaping on school grounds, we can help protect young people from the dangers of vaping.
