MindOut is an excellent charity, striving for everyone within the LGBTQ community to have access to services and feel supported for their mental health and wellbeing. They provide beneficial services and run events for the LGBTQ community and those relating to it throughout Brighton and Hove, with additional online support for anyone in need of it globally. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week, we’d like to share a quote from our partnering charity MQ Mental Health Research.  MQ undertakes vital research into mental health illness in order to understand mental health, improve treatment and intervention, and prevent development of mental illness. With them, we provide a range of thoughtful and supportive cards on our website, 30% of the net sales of which go towards MQ and their research. Customers can use these cards to spread love and encouragement to their close ones.  With mental health in mind, we’d like to remind everyone to reach out and support those around them this week and always.

It's time to meet another Pigeon! 🐦🦆🦅 (still waiting on that pigeon emoji) We grabbed Laura, one of our fabulous Senior Designers, for a speedy Q&A 😍 Laura has been at Funky Pigeon for 17 years, which we're pretty sure must be a record. 🏆 She's responsible for designing many of the cards and gifts on-site, so make sure to keep an eye out... 👀 In three sentences or less, please explain your role... As a Senior Designer, I design in-house cards and gifts, web styling and visuals, source photography, research trends, mood boards and range development. I also design the seasonal card and gift guide. Can you tell us your favourite thing about working here at FP? The freedom to be creative and knowing that something I have designed ends up on someone’s mantelpiece, shelf, and even kept in a memory box for years to come. What's one piece of career advice you would share? Trust the process. And always be a nice person. Karaoke song of choice? Chandelier. The Moulin Rouge stage version. Obviously. We are proud to announce that we have raised over £250,000 so far for Cancer Research UK (CRUK)! Since 2017, Funky Pigeon and Cancer Research UK have partnered in the aim to raise awareness and funds towards cancer research. We came up with our ‘pennies in the basket’ scheme, which gives customers the opportunity to round up their basket totals and donate the additional pennies to Cancer Research. We are happy that this alone has been able to generate an incredible £259,600 and cannot wait to see how much more can be achieved. We would like to say THANK YOU to our customers… 🙌 Without the loyal support of those who recognise the importance of this cause, we could not have reached such an incredible milestone. The ‘pennies in the basket’ scheme is not the only way to donate through our website, we also offer card donations, as well as cards and gifts within the Stand Up To Cancer range. 100% of cancer research donation cards and 30% of net sales from our stand up to cancer range of cards and gifts goes towards the campaign.

Swipe left to meet a brand-spanking-new team member, welcome to Funky Pigeon Matt Goodman 👋 Matt is joining us as Head of Design and brings 30 years' worth of greetings card experience to FP, specialising in humour and licensing. To better introduce him, we asked a few quick questions to learn more about all things Matt 💭 FYI, Matt's favourite TV series is Slow Horses (because who wouldn't want to be a spy), and if he could choose a superpower, it would be the ability to fly to our Bristol HQ, thus avoiding the traffic!
