Interesting fact: We’ve been supplementing our free-range chickens’ diet with Black Soldier Fly Larvae since 2023 🐔 Here’s what we’ve observed at our Kenyan Facility: • Starting Point: We began with 5 chickens, each weighing 1.1kg and laying 3 eggs daily. • Feeding Regimen: We added 100 grams of live BSFL per chicken per week to their local feed mash. • Growth & Production: In just one month, chickens grew to 1.7kg and egg production increased from 3 to 5 eggs per day. Chicks fed BSFL from birth reached 1.2kg in just 38 days. • Expansion & Success: From 5 chickens, our flock has grown to 82, with a 70% female and 30% male ratio. We’re also successfully incubating 7-9 chicks each month. Why BSFL?🪰 BSFL are rich in protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients. They boost growth rates, improve egg production, and enhance overall poultry health. Plus, they provide a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional feed. Have you tried BSFL in your poultry diet? Share your experiences in the comments below! 👇 — 🪰 Follow Flybox® to learn about insect-farming. A recent study examined how different treatments of biowaste can impact the nutritional value, functional properties, and lipid quality of BSFL outputs. Key findings include: 🌟 Increased protein content (up to 39.11%) 🌟 Higher ash content (up to 11.04%) 🌟 Rich in saturated fatty acids (62.07% to 74.64%) More on this study: https://lnkd.in/dXs42J7s — 🪰 Follow Flybox® to learn about insect-farming.
