FIRE STOPPING LONDON HAVE GONE OUT TO TEST AND NOW HAVE UNIQUE TESTED HOLLOW CORE PENETRATION DETAIL! Fire Stopping London Limited have been working hard these past months on a solution for a penetration seal to soil stacks & rainwater pipes in hollow core slabs that can be easily fitted after the service has been installed. We researched current solutions on the market for this slab type and found very little in the way of details for install that had been physically tested in hollow core and not been produced via technical assessments or extended fields of application. For the detail we found there were programme effects, cost implications, and design concerns due to: ·      Having to pack out hollows prior to pipe installations then return to carry out the fire stopping. ·      Having to visit the workface multiple times both above and below the slab. ·      High material usage. ·      Enlarged opening sizes requirement leading to reduced separation between penetrations and structural concerns. Via research and development, Fire Stopping London produced multiple detail designs that would be to be taken to test, with the hope of producing a solution that could all be installed after the service installation, require less time at the workface, reduce opening sizes and structural concerns, use less material, and reduce overall costs. We had a short amount to time to turn this around and with hard work by the Fire Stopping London Limited team and some guidance from Warringtonfire, the details were finalised, specimens installed, and the test completed. We had a positive result with details achieving the required EI120 Fire Rating and others achieving E90;EI60 in line with EN 1366-3. This effort has allowed Fire Stopping London to reduce install costs, improve programme, mitigate structural concerns, and provide more economical installations for both services and penetration seals.
