Wazen Oil Services had a remarkable experience representing Libya at the Energy Exports Conference 2024 in Aberdeen. Our opening presentation kicked off the discussion panel on the opportunities within Libya's oil and gas industry, delving into the history and current state of the sector, introducing the NOC's future vision and the role international companies have to play in the development of Libyan energy. The conference offered a platform to introduce oil and gas companies to the vast potential of Libyan energy and renew interest in capitalizing on its potential. Wazen's presentation emphasized the importance of local-global partnerships and the significant role they play in driving skills transfer, knowledge sharing, efficiency, and sustainability within our industry. We used our partnerships with Sensia Global and Rockwell Automation as case studies to reinforce the mutual benefits of entering the Libyan market with a local partner to navigate its complexities for successful outcomes. We extend our thanks to the organizers of the Energy Exports Conference for providing us with the opportunity to speak. We would also like to praise the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) and the delegation representing Libya's private sector for their participation. Together, we represented the Libyan energy sector in its entirety, showcasing the diverse and rich potential it holds. As we move forward, we are excited about the new relationships forged and the prospects of future collaborations that will elevate the Libyan oil and gas sector and contribute to global energy solutions. #EEC2024 #Libya #oilandgas #globalpartnerships #renewableenergy

Last week, Team Decom Mission supported the Energy Exports Conference, organised by the EIC (Energy Industries Council), which brought together a global audience from the energy sector to review current trends and emerging opportunities. As we have done in previous years, Callum Falconer and Sam Long provided a live update on global decommissioning activity, based on recent learnings from key regions as well as current events and discussion points in the North Sea. This was supplemented by a data extract from the Asset Map database provided by Tom Bacon of the EIC, underlining the fact that decommissioning is as prevalent in coal and nuclear power plants as it is in oil and gas. Reflecting on discussions we had, operators and supply chain are largely busy with greenfield and brownfield projects in the energy sector, but there remain concerns about forward commitments to the Energy Transition and even oil and gas, despite strong demand signals. Where is capital going to be spent and doing what, when, to meet the required changes in the way energy is produced and consumed? Within the field of oil and gas decommissioning this currently takes the form of international demand that threatens to usurp the North Sea, which remains the most mature basin, with the largest decommissioning backlog - as well as increasing use of assets to conduct renewables newbuild and oil and gas extension. As ever – feel free to reach out to Sam or Callum via direct message and learn more from us. #decommissioning #oilandgas #energytransition #renewableenergy #nuclear Stuart R Broadley HonFEI

Energy Exports Conference 2024 Thank you to the EIC (Energy Industries Council) for putting together the Energy Exports Conference in Aberdeen last week. I visited a couple of years ago looking at ‘export’ but spent most of my time getting an understanding of emerging energy trends and technology. This year, I went chose to visit in order to refresh my understanding on government policy, the industrial trends in power generation and hear from some of the major OEMs, in particular Siemens Energy, Baker Hughes and Wartsilla UK Ltd. I was not disappointed. A few major market themes that I think are important to us at Coleherne Ltd: - The oil and gas market in the GCC is ‘strong and stable’. - Gas will be a ‘destination’ fuel, not just for the ‘transition’. - The requirements to achieve net zero are ‘massive, complex and daunting’. - Carbon capture is essential if we are to meet our net zero targets. - Hydrogen will underpin future low-carbon industries. - Decarbonising ‘grey’ Hydrogen must be an international priority for investment. - There is a finite capacity for building the generation, transmission and storage infrastructure needed for net zero. - The OEMs are being selective with the projects they chose to get involved with. I have already thanked most of the EIC team and speakers directly but I have not yet mentioned Dr. Kerry-Ann Adamson from Worley who was looking to standardisation as the foundation of innovation for us component manufacturers to get economies of scale. #EEC24, #britishengineering, #britishmanufacturing, #powergeneration

Offshore Wind Session: Energy Exports Conference 2024, Day Two This morning's session on offshore wind session at EEC 2024 focused on the current state and future prospects of the offshore wind sector. Key topics included the need for regulatory action, the challenges facing the supply chain, and the importance of strategic investment and collaboration. EIC's Sharanya Kumaramurthy said there is a short-term tendency among many companies to favour oil and gas due to existing headwinds in renewables. She pointed out that achieving wind targets (270 gigawatt globally, excluding China) by 2030 seems unlikely but stressed that were still significant opportunities in the sector. She called for less focus on targets and more on actionable steps, including regulatory measures. Venterra Group's Jamie MacDonald provided an overview of the fixed bottom offshore wind market, noting significant challenges over the past 18 months such as rising costs, supply chain bottlenecks, regulatory issues, and technical reliability concerns. He said there was a need for strategic adjustments and increased investment to ensure growth and competitiveness. MacDonald discussed the industry's move towards larger wind turbines and deeper water installations, highlighting the limited global capacity for producing the necessary large monopiles outside of China. He said that creating a sustainable offshore wind market requires a collaborative approach across the industry, with a focus on long-term value rather than merely cutting costs. Darren Taylor, of Bureau Veritas Group spoke about the necessity of standardising within the offshore wind industry. He noted that the supply chain needs to invest in larger and better facilities, but there must be a point of standardisation. He said there was a lack of sufficient vessels and fabrication infrastructure to support the number of projects underway wind . Taylor stressed the importance of managing quality at every stage of the supply chain to avoid high costs. He also mentioned the increasing importance of boosting domestic production to diversify supply chains and improve reliability. #EEC24 #OffshoreWind #EnergyTransition #Renewables #EnergySupplyChain #WindPower #Cleantech

Executives and officials from aramco, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment (MISA) and other entities conducted a series of presentations, yesterday, on the first day of the Energy Exports Conference 2024 in Aberdeen. These presentations provided a rare glimpse into how supply chain businesses can engage with Aramco. For the second year in a row, EEC offers this direct engagement opportunity for its delegates with Aramco. The EEC, the UK’s foremost energy supply chain exports conference, features delegations and speakers from 20 countries across the globe. The presentations began with opening remarks by Khalid Alassaf, Vice President of the Procurement & Supply Chain Management Department at Aramco Europe. He invited companies to take advantage of emerging opportunities across the company’s operational ecosystem. Key topics covered in the presentations included: Utilising low-rate financing opportunities offered by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF). The process for registering and qualifying as an Aramco supplier, regardless of the company's registration location. Investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia. Aramco’s capital investment programmes, which include numerous projects (including mega projects) set to roll out in the coming years. These projects offer extensive opportunities for supply chain businesses in processing programmes, refining facilities, offshore projects, distribution, infrastructure, and mega petrochemical projects. Aramco is also conducting one-on-one meetings with supply chain companies at EEC 2024, an event that aims to help businesses develop and grow their global exports. #EEC24 #EnergyExportsConference #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #Renewables #EnergySupplyChain #EnergyExports #SaudiArabia
