A hyper seasonal, low impact restaurant in the heart of Hackney.

About us

A hyper seasonal, low impact restaurant in the heart of Hackney. Taking our name from ‘the art of altering elements to improve the whole’ to challenge traditional thinking and wasteful practices in the food industry. We replace the intensively produced, the homogeneous varieties and the unnecessary waste, with the regenerative, the harmless, the natural and the wild, restoring a sense of connection with our food sources. OUR MENUS Our dishes showcase the finest seasonal, local and sustainable plant based produce, placing it centre-stage as the star of every plate. Ingredients are selected from small-scale farms, foragers and independent producers who use regenerative and minimal intervention methods. We seek out the unfamiliar, elevate the ordinary, celebrate the whole and embrace creative ‘root-to-fruit’ preparations to ensure minimal waste. OUR OPERATIONS The design of the restaurant interiors reflects our alternative approach. An exercise in adaptive re-use and minimal intervention, it showcases sustainable materials, slow and low waste methods of construction and concepts of circular design. From cleaning products to waste management, throughout all our business operations we strive for lower impacts, deeper knowledge and continuous creativity, and for greater opportunities to share this with others.

Earth Day is every day at EDIT. Founded out of concern for the environmental damage being caused by the global food industry, EDIT is committed to circular economy principles and seeks to create a kinder, more essential sense of connection with our food sources by working with nature, not against it. 🌍🌱 ___ In this image, you’ll find our Core 3 Pillars: . PLANT BASED - Meat and dairy production is responsible for around 19% of global greenhouse gas emissions, so cutting it from our diet and eating only plants and fungi instead is the most effective way to significantly to reduce our carbon footprint, and to have a positive impact on the climate, help stop deforestation and biodiversity loss, and save water too. . HYPER SEASONAL - A plant-based diet does not necessarily translate to sustainability – a lot of farming is very carbon intensive. We champion the most sustainable produce grown using non-intensive, organic, regenerative or minimal intervention methods, at the natural time of year, and in local climates by independent, small-scale growers who take care of the soil and environment. . LOW IMPACT - In our kitchen we follow a zero-waste philosophy which means being more creative with all the ingredients we use, from ‘root to fruit’, and by preservation methods to extend the life and usage. Throughout all our business operations, from our interior design, to our cleaning products to waste management, we strive to reduce our impact on the planet. __ #earthday2024 #sustainability #seasonalproduce #lowimpact #plantbased #editrestaurant #editlondon

Very proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for Sustainable Interior 2023 in the Dezeen Awards! We are excited to be one of 5 finalists in our category and to be in such super sustainable company! . EDIT was founded with a vision for the global food industry to move away from linear systems towards closed loops, and beyond concepts of sustainability towards regeneration, to become a circular economy which works in harmony with nature, not against it.  The restaurant interiors reflect these founding principles and were designed by our founder, Elly Ward, a qualified architectural and interior designer, in collaboration with her husband Joe Morris of Morris+Company.  . The project is an exercise in adaptive re-use and minimal intervention, showcasing sustainable materials, slow and low waste methods of construction and concepts of circular design, whilst consciously avoiding ‘green’ and ‘eco’ aesthetic cliches. .
