We’re investing in wind, nuclear and solar to help prevent future energy crises and help Britain achieve Net Zero.

About us

EDF is helping Britain achieve Net Zero by leading the transition to a cleaner, low-emission, electric future and helping prevent future energy crises. Our nuclear fleet has supplied low-carbon electricity to UK homes for more than 40 years, and we’re helping with the development of new nuclear stations at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. But we’re not stopping there. EDF is also investing in wind, solar and battery storage technology and helping customers decarbonise their homes and businesses through low-carbon tech such as heat pumps and electric vehicles. We’re proud to sponsor Sammi Kinghorn, an inspiring athlete who believes in our mission to help Britain achieve net zero. Sammi told us, “Climate change is one of the biggest issues of our time, but I believe that with courage and determination, we can work together to bring down carbon emissions. Much like in sport, it’s about pushing boundaries and achieving what seems unattainable.” We wish Sammi luck during this exciting summer of sport.

This #NetZeroWeek we’re recognising the career opportunities that the move to a net zero future can bring. At EDF, we’re already playing our part by developing thousands of workers across the energy sector in new, green skills. Today, around 23,500 jobs are supported around Britain by our new nuclear project at Hinkley Point C, with over 1,300 apprentices trained on-site so far. Plus, our commitment to further extend the lives of the four generating AGR nuclear power stations, subject to inspections and regulatory approvals, will help to sustain many of the fleet’s 5,000 jobs while maintaining vital nuclear skills. Heysham 2 #nuclear power station is celebrating reaching an important milestone this week. 🎉 First connected to the grid in 1988, the station has now generated an impressive 300TWh of reliable, low-carbon electricity, all from a site smaller than a square mile! That’s the equivalent of powering every home in Lancashire for 147 years and is a testament to the professionalism, expertise and dedication of the Heysham 2 team. EDF is continuing to invest in nuclear to help reduce carbon emissions, secure the UK’s energy future and help Britain achieve #NetZero. Find out more: https://ow.ly/hEqu50SzrxB #NetZeroNeedsNuclear
