If you're still using Navision (NAV) 2015, in 6 months time (January 2025) Extended Support comes to an end! If you're on NAV 2009 or NAV 2013 then Extended Support has already ended. From then there will no enhancements of updates from Microsoft. Importantly, no security updates. Business Central & Sustainability! In Business Central there is a feature which enables you to collect and report on your sustainability activities! The feature will all you start the path to meeting compliance with the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other ESG standards. Microsoft states: "You can record and report on a wide spectrum of sustainability information, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative aspects, and forward-looking and retrospective data. You can also leverage the feature to actively reduce emissions, making it a valuable tool for small and midsized organisations seeking to comprehensively report on sustainability initiatives. You can use Sustainability Journals and Recurring Sustainability Journals to record data, based on the Chart of Emission Accounts. You can use different emission groups, subgroups, and formulas to make the collection of emissions as easy as possible. This feature also has Sustainability Entries where data is recorded and used for reporting. It's important to understand that Business Central supports other emissions besides carbon footprint." Some new stuff you may have missed in the April 2024 release for Business Central? * "Jobs" are now called "Projects". Despite the change of name, the underlying functionalities and structures have NOT changed. You will now create and manage 'projects' in the system rather than 'jobs'. * When you create a sales invoice, you can now include multiple project lines on a single invoice! This feature is useful when consolidating invoices across a number of customer projects and putting them into one invoice. You will now see a "get project planning lines" option, so you can select and add projects to the invoice. * A new "archive project" feature has been added and gives the ability to initiate the archiving process for specific projects and maintain various stages of archived projects. Did you know... In Business Central you can now create an FX account in the chart of accounts. This will allow you to add exchanges rates and updates on GL accounts. Accessing worksheets such as item journals or timesheets wasn't available on the Dynamics BC mobile app. However, from the April 2024 Wave 1 release this functionality has now been enabled and you can access worksheets on your mobile! Another improvement for timesheets is the new self-service option which allows users to monitor the status of their timesheets. Users can easily track timesheets in progress, pending completion, or already submitted which will streamline approvals. A useful feature for project managers.
