Ever wondered what a University of Oxford Professor of Economics looks like? They are a rare breed indeed, but here are some; leaders in their field who spent several weeks this summer delivering tutorials (online and in-person) and guiding a group of business delegates through OUBEP's Summer Programme 2024. Banu Demir, Sergio de Ferra and Ludvig Sinander are pictured in their Oxford college environment alongside OUBEP Directors Professor Alexander Teytelboym and Associate Professor Jean Paul Carvalho, 2024 Course Director Sarah Boon, the faculty team from Department of Economics, University of Oxford, and loyal tutor groups from the OUBEP Class of 2024. This stellar teaching team worked closely with our summer programme cohort for the duration of the course, from its kick-off with online modules and tuition in May-June, through to the in-person residential week here with us in Oxford last month. Find out more about OUBEP's flagship programme - 'Economics for Business Leaders' - and leave your details to be among the first to hear about #OUBEP2025: https://bit.ly/48SxBD5 #OUBEP24 #EconomicsforAll #AcademicExcellence #LearningandDevelopment #ContinuousLearning

🆕 Boosting academic achievement: The role of teacher expectations, information & classroom peers 🇵🇰 - Communicating tailored high teacher expectations led to large improvements in student performance in Pakistan. - Providing reminders about past performance also had similar effects, particularly in environments with low parental literacy. - Peer matching only helped when peers are similar. Today on VoxDev, Minahil Asim (University of Ottawa), Ronak Jain (Harvard University) & Vatsal Khandelwal (Department of Economics, University of Oxford) explore the impacts of three education interventions in Pakistan: https://lnkd.in/erqtxiK5

That's a wrap! The OUBEP Class of 2024 graduated from their summer programme - 'Economics for Business Leaders' - under the blue skies of Oxford last week. Congratulations to each and every one of our #OUBEP24 cohort. Having completed a rigorous remote-learning programme in the preceding weeks, delegates arrived from across the globe, representing industries as diverse as finance, energy, business consulting, manufacturing and the public and charity sectors. Amongst those who converged on St Catherine's College, Oxford were leaders in the fields of strategy, operations, engineering, asset management, communications and law. For many, this was their first time being 'taught' economics. Our brilliant team of tutors from Department of Economics, University of Oxford - Alexander Teytelboym, Banu Demir, Sergio de Ferra and Ludvig Sinander - made every session stimulating and relevant, and our dedicated 2024 Course Director Sarah Boon ensured nobody got left behind during the (undeniably and unashamedly!) intensive learning journey.
