It’s the second anniversary of the UK-led training programme, Operation Interflex, which prepares Ukrainian recruits for the battlefield. We continue to deliver vast amounts of kit, including tens of thousands of items of military clothing, for Ukrainian recruits to undertake this training and take back to the frontlines. We’ve also helped Ukraine to accelerate deployments, rebuild their forces, and scale-up resistance as they continue to defend their nation’s sovereignty against Russian invaders. #StandWithUkraine

Today, on #ReservesDay, we are delighted to announce that His Majesty The King has appointed our CEO, Andy Start, as the Reserves Forces Honorary Colonel of 106th (Yeomanry) Regiment Royal Artillery. The 106th (Yeomanry) Regiment Royal Artillery is the British Army’s only reserve anti-aircraft warfare regiment. Situated in London, Portsmouth and Southampton, the Regiment specialises in delivering vital close support air defence to the UK’s manoeuvre forces, providing protection to critical assets from a range of airborne threats. As an Honorary Colonel, Andy will support the Regiment’s leadership teams. Andy is no stranger to the work of reserves, with DE&S and its sister organisation, the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), having grown their Reserve Network by 25% in the last year alone. Watch his video to see what he has to say about this exciting announcement. #ArmedForcesWeek #AFW24

In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day today, we are proud to announce that our colleague, Dr Dawn Gilbert, has been named Defence Civilian Engineer of the Year 2024 in the Worshipful Company of Engineers Awards. 🌟 As the Lead Engineer for the Space-Based Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (SB-ISR) Programme within our Space Delivery Team, Dawn is responsible for the engineering delivery of a £970M ten-year Programme, providing Defence with a constellation of state-of-the-art satellites and ground infrastructure. Dawn won the award because she 'provides inspirational leadership across a disparate enterprise, corralling effort across: military personnel in UK Space Command; defence industry; engineers and project staff; scientists, and external consultants. The application of her outstanding engineering judgement and technical acumen has resulted in the Programme being able to articulate robust requirement sets that industry can respond to.' Dawn was delighted to win. When asked if she has any advice on how those already working in the industry can help inspire younger generations to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or maths, she said 🗣: "Lead by example and move with the times. Create, through your own actions, the kind of work environment that the next generation would want to enter - and the current generation would want to stay in." Congratulations Dawn! #INWED24
