Thank you Adam Soames, one of the fantastic group of people joining our founder and President Dame Kelly Holmes taking on an epic challenge this September in aid of the Trust! A tough, but inspirational trek raising vital funds to help us put more world class #AthleteMentors shoulder to shoulder with #YoungPeople #fundraisingchallenge #sportfordevelopment #sportforgood #poweringpotential #shapingfutures
📣 Having passed a milestone birthday last year, I have decided to take on a new challenge for a wonderful Charity this September: Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. I will be trekking to Machu Picchu’s famed Temple of the Sun, with Dame Kelly and a group of amazing people to raise money for her charity which was founded on the belief that it only takes one person to make a difference in a young persons life. We will be trekking along the Incas trail reaching more than 4500m above sea level, from the city of Cusco to the sacred site of Machu Picchu, all in aid of young people across the UK. Following the pandemic, cost of living crisis and general social & economic downfalls in our societies, young people really are facing so much adversity. Dame Kelly Holmes Trust trains up existing and former champions from the world of elite sport to pass on their winning mindset through coaching and mentoring, boosting young people’s confidence & developing the positive behaviours and skillsets they need to succeed in education, work and life. The difference she and the Trust are making is real 💫 I know there is so much need in the world right now, but I would be so grateful for your support. You can take comfort in the knowledge that you will be changing the course of a young person's life 💚 Link to donate 🙏🏼 https://lnkd.in/e2JgvDen If you would like to find out more about Dame Kelly Holmes Trust please take a look at https://lnkd.in/epNvgmej #championinyourcorner #youthdevelopment #winningmindset #athletementors #charitychallenge #machupicchu #onestepatatime #teamDameKelly

We love the creativity of the young people on our programmes. It's always inspiring to see how they come up with ideas and then transform them into a meaningful project. Young people from Central Academy, on the AQA Unlocking Potential programme, created a social action project called My Devices and Me. The students shared information on the impact devices have on students both positively and negatively. And they had small businesses cards made and gave them out to each student, with information of charity’s that can help. #poweringpotential | #standingshouldertoshoulder | #unlockingpotential | #championinyourcorner | #damekellyholmes

Breaking down barriers. Young people from Woodchurch School in the Wirral chose to create a stand at their school to talk openly about periods. They wanted to let fellow students know there was nothing to be embarrassed about and answer any questions they might have. The students were supported by their athlete mentor, Jenna Downing, in this programme funded by Football for Change. We're always so proud to watch young people help others and show just what can be achieved when you work together 😍 #standingshouldertoshoulder | #transforminglives | #footballforchange | #championinyourcorner | footballforchange

A brilliant event that our CEO Martin Talbot, and athlete mentors hannah beharry and Suzanne Miller, were delighted to take part in - GOSH Get Active is a truly inspiring day, providing young cancer patients with the opportunity to try new sports and have fun. We are very proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with GOSH at this event and through our mentoring partnerships.
We’re thrilled to share the amazing experience at our recent Get Active event! 🚴♂️ As Ben, Angus, and Hugh’s dad beautifully put it, “The opportunity to try new things and open their horizons is brilliant.” You’ll see they’ve collected a few medals too! 🏅 This weekend, hundreds of GOSH patients joined us for an incredible day filled with sports and activities, all designed to support their long-term recovery. The event was a unique chance for current patients with cancer and those who have completed treatment to explore a wide range of sports. ⚾ We had fantastic support from our dedicated ward staff, a huge team of volunteers, and wonderful partners from charities and local sports clubs. Together, we created an environment where everyone could participate and enjoy activities such as climbing walls, cycling, athletics, fencing, tennis, ballet, wheelchair basketball, archery, football, cricket, and inflatable slides. Plus, there was face painting, ice cream, and an opportunity to design a bedroom taking inspiration from our upcoming Children’s Cancer Centre. Ayaan drew a fantastic rendition of their ideal hospital room: “It should be colourful so people can enjoy and have some motivation and believe in themselves.” A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable day possible. Your efforts brought so much joy to the children and their families. 💙

Last week we celebrated our ongoing partnership with AQA with an amazing event at London Zoo. 🌟 🐒 🦜 🐼 🦘 🌟 The event bought together lots of the inspirational young people who have been taking part in our AQA Unlocking Potential Programme, with their Athlete Mentors who have guided them and the wonderful AQA team who fund their activity. AQA Unlocking Potential is a transformational mentoring programme for students aged from 11-19 years of age, delivered in partnership between education charity AQA and Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. The programme aims to raise student's aspirations and expectations for future life goals, equipping them with a winning mindset that’s ready to achieve. 🏆 This is the 12th year the programme has been running, with many hundreds of young people helped along the way. Thank you to the AQA for their fantastic support and to all our Athlete Mentors for the change they make in young people's lives. ❤️ You can find out more about all our partnerships on our website: https://bit.ly/45c8tp9 ZSL London Zoo | #standingshouldertoshoulder | #transforminglives | #championinyourcorner

'This has been such a wholesome project to work on. I'm so pleased with the young people I've been mentoring and all they've achieved with their social action.' Kevin Batey - Athlete Mentor with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust Thank you to Deloitte East Midlands for making this possible by funding our On Track to Achieve Programme with Redhill Academy, Notts. As with all our programmes the young people were asked to choose a social action project which would benefit both them and their surrounding community. In this case they decided they wanted to visit residents in Coppice Lodge, a local care home, to play games, help in the garden and share stories with those who live there. A wonderful way for different generations to interact and learn from each other! #poweringpotential | #championinyourcorner | #damekellyholmes

We’re so proud of the difference that young people on our programmes make with their social action projects. ❤️👏🏻 For this On Track to Achieve programme young people from St George’s School in Kent partnered with Kent Police, Southeastern Railway and Lent Community Foundation. They chose to share messages of hope with those struggling with their mental health and who may be considering suicide. Working with their athlete mentor, Claire Bennett, they created boards at railway stations displaying their messages. Dame Kelly Holmes Trust Programmes make a difference to young people’s lives and they pass that difference on 🥰 Southeastern Railway Kent Police #getontrack | #championinyourcorner | #suicideprevention
