The format is targeted at self serve advertisers who don't currently sell on Amazon and enables them to capture high value lead gen data. Will Amazon ever be a serious contender for the online CPG full shop? Yes they are big and important in some categories; however winning the main shop mission isn't easy, and it's a low margin hard slog where it helps to have a large (offline) main store business to help spread the burden. Will AR and VR ever be more than a 'nice to have' optional layer to the real world experience? There's been a lot of money poured in and a lot of people get very excited about these technologies, but 10 years on from Facebook buying Oculus for a snip @ $3bn has the world even started to fundamentally change? Voice went a bit mad and seems to have found it's home / niche as a useful interface and maybe that's the way that VR and AR are heading too.
