Every 40 seconds, someone dies from suicide; tens of millions more live with mental health conditions for which there is no good standard of care.   Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is one of these conditions.  A lesser-known subset of major depressive disorder, TRD is believed to affect more than 100 million people around the world*. People living with TRD have tried at least two different treatments within a depressive episode without success, with the chance of response decreasing with every subsequent treatment. Some of the most difficult-to-treat mental health conditions, including treatment-resistant depression (TRD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders, have very few treatment options.     However, steps are being taken to a bring about a paradigm shift that could help to change the future of mental health for the millions of people who urgently need new options.    Our CEO, Kabir Nath, explores this need for new treatments in the mental health space in the Spring edition of Pharmafile. It’s great to see that the Centre for Mental Health Research and Innovation, a pioneering collaboration between Compass, King's College London, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, has won the Refurbishment Project of the Year at this year’s Design in Mental Health Awards. We’re delighted to announce that Lori Englebert will be joining Compass as our new Chief Commercial Officer. Lori brings extensive experience in global pharmaceuticals and scaling commercial organisations. Last weekend Compass’s hiking club took on Nantlle Ridge, a challenging 7 mile walk in Snowdonia, Wales, with over 900m elevation. Great work, team!  

We know that it can be more difficult for men to seek help for their mental health.       This Men’s Health Month, we encourage everyone to speak out.  

Last week we enjoyed our annual UK summer party in London. Thanks to everyone for making it so much fun—we were even lucky enough to get some good weather!
