Our aim is to help your organisation or group achieve its goals and better support your beneficiaries or residents. Community First Yorkshire is an influential, regional body which works with voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises and rural communities across North, South and West Yorkshire. We are an independent charity formed from a merger between Rural Action Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire & York Forum. We are the rural community council for North, South and West Yorkshire.

Are you in charge of a community building in an area of York designated as ‘rural’? AND are you hoping to carry out work that will improve your energy efficiency and insulation, upgrade your broadband and wi-fi, or perhaps upgrade your hearing loops or other digital infrastructure? If so, we could have the perfect funding solution for you! City of York Council has just announced a new £150,000 Community Buildings Fund, with the aim of supporting projects designed to boost decarbonisation and digital connectivity. We have been involved in the development of the Fund and our Community Support North Yorkshire team is now on hand to help develop individual applications. In fact, the Council is advising applicants to speak to the team before submitting a bid to ensure it stands the best possible chance of success. The closing date is Friday 6 September. Well, for our next online Volunteer Co-ordinators' Network meeting, we are thrilled to have Dave Stott, the Assistant Director of Volunteering and Safeguarding at The Royal Voluntary Service, with us to share his young volunteer model. We will explore good practice when involving young volunteers, how to create an age-appropriate environment and will hear about the impact and benefits of involving young people.
