It’s #TransitionArc launch day!   We’re excited to introduce TransitionArc: a one-stop tool to assess corporate transitions, and unlock finance at the speed and scale needed to meet global climate goals.     For the first time in the public domain, the best available corporate transition analysis has been brought together in one place. This is a game changer for #ClimateFinance, as decision makers no longer need to contend with varying assessment frameworks, multiple ratings and conflicting metrics.    Now anyone can see what ‘good’ looks like on the path to transition, and assess companies across five key metrics:   ➡️ GHG emissions ➡️ Climate targets  ➡️ Capital allocation ➡️ Governance ➡️ Policy engagement   TransitionArc will accelerate the #ClimateTransition by empowering decision makers to close the gaps between corporate commitments, disclosure and action: 🔷 Companies can prioritize green solutions and attract investment  🔷 Financial institutions can direct flows of capital to support corporate transitions  🔷 Civil society can advocate for greater and more specific corporate accountability  🔷 Governments and regulators can develop policy and accountability mechanisms Everything we do at Climate Arc is based on collaboration. TransitionArc was created in partnership with world-leading data and analysis providers including Carbon Tracker, Corporate Knights, InfluenceMap, Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) , World Benchmarking Alliance, CDP, Global Canopy, Science Based Targets initiative and The International Council on Clean Transportation. The metrics are consistent with existing climate transition frameworks, including the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT). Register here to access the tool: https://brnw.ch/21wKNgJ We’d love to know what you think!

Alongside #TransitionArc, our new website recently went live! 🎉   Over the last two years, our vision and work at Arc have greatly evolved. At its heart, Arc is built on collaboration. With our partners, we’re creating tools, gathering insights and hosting conversations that are adding real value to the #ClimateFinance ecosystem, and driving us toward collective #Climate goals. There’s much more to be done, but we have come a long way. We needed a website and brand to reflect that. Designed by Applied Works, we’ve launched a new brand that expresses our dynamic, creative and innovative approach to the climate finance challenge – focused on making novel connections, and effectively engaging decision makers with clarity and impact. And as we grow, we have more and more tangible work to accompany our vision. Our new website is a clearer, more detailed showcase of that work, and the collaborations that make it possible, across our strategic pillars: Pathways, Analysis and Capacity. You can now find out more about our: 💸 Grants: We fund analysis, datasets, training, and other toolkits that support climate finance decision making.  💡 Insights: We create maps that show the current climate finance landscape, to deepen our understanding of barriers, scope and solutions.  📈 Tools: We build tools that improve access to the best climate data and analysis, to drive climate-aligned decision making in the wider economy.  👥 Team: From finance professionals to data experts, we’re a diverse team committed to our common goal.    Huge thanks to the Applied Works team for their design and development work, on this and on #TransitionArc. 🔗 Visit the website here: https://climatearc.org/

On 27 June 2024, #TransitionArc launched at the Climate Innovation Forum. In a packed room at the Guildhall in London, industry leaders came together for an animated discussion on the barriers, solutions, and tools needed to accelerate corporate transition.    Key themes that emerged from our panel sessions:    1. Convergence is key for those working in data, disclosure and transition frameworks, to enable effective decision making in the real economy. As Jaakko Kooroshy from LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) said: "Investors are looking for sources of truth on climate. It can be like putting a puzzle together, but different puzzles and all with missing pieces... Transition Arc does this work for them."  2. To drive action and ensure a virtuous circle where disclosure and data improve one another, empowering decision makers through data and analysis is crucial.   As Vicky Sins from World Benchmarking Alliance said,   "TransitionArc makes assessments transparently available, drives accountability further, gets to as many users as possible and drives financial flows, pushing these companies to be Paris-aligned."    3. To move as fast as we need to, ‘unholy alliances’ will need to be formed, with a multi-dimensional approach to technology integration and metric expansion. What is the role of artificial intelligence, for example? Or accessing undisclosed information through satellite imagery? We are addressing these questions and many more in partnership with the wider climate finance ecosystem. TransitionArc is constantly evolving and expanding to increase its usefulness for a range of stakeholders. We recently announced a new partnership with the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute and XDI (Cross Dependency Initiative), bringing adaptation and physical risk analysis into the tool.    Huge thanks to all our incredible partners!    TransitionArc is a unique collaboration between world-leading corporate climate data and analysis providers including Carbon Tracker, CDP, Corporate Knights, Global Canopy, InfluenceMap The International Council on Clean Transportation, Science Based Targets initiative, Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) and World Benchmarking Alliance.    Read more about the discussion: https://lnkd.in/ekFrFYFU

"As sustainability disclosure increases and data-analysis tools spread, brands may no longer have to fret about whether and when to admit their targets are slipping: the outside world will already know." - Reuters Being transparent about progress on #climate goals is one of the most powerful tools brands have to build trust with consumers and attract investment. Companies need to show evidence of their progress, and be honest about their challenges. This is now much easier with #TransitionArc, the corporate assessment tool we launched in June. As described in Reuters, TransitionArc allows investors and others to assess how brands are progressing on both their own climate transition plans and in driving sector-level change, for example through climate-aligned lobbying and industry engagement. Our Head of Strategic Engagement Hannah Messenger explains this wider set of reference points will invite a more nuanced evaluation: “Because the public interface of TransitionArc is available free of charge, financial institutions, policymakers, and campaigners all have access to the same information – so they can assess a company’s progress and provide investment accordingly.” https://lnkd.in/eWRYQJnz

For companies and financial institutions to take meaningful action on #Climate, knowing what ‘good’ looks like is crucial. Science-aligned pathways enable decisions to be made more efficiently, and finance can flow to where it’s needed to meet global climate goals. Today, #TransitionArc partner Global Canopy launches the action-oriented DEFT Pathway – joining leading institutions and experts working to end market-driven #Deforestation. The tool categorizes companies according to their level of progress, and will help financial institutions better engage with companies on deforestation. Investors understand there is a transition taking place. They want to know money they allocate today is helping build the safer world of tomorrow. They want companies to be able to answer when they ask, ‘How do I know the money I invest in you today will achieve what you say it will over time?’ They want to align capital to where it’s needed the most – in the real world – to accelerate the transition. They’re asking for the data, frameworks and tools to help them do this. What they don’t want is fragmentation. They don’t want different disclosure rules in different territories, or corporate analysis data in dozens of formats. Many of us working in climate finance recognise this, and there is a real convergence taking place. It was great to see our Chief Exec Meryam Omi at the Climate Bonds Initiative event, where CBI discussed their new tool which aligns existing transition frameworks, making it much easier to mobilise capital to corporates with a credible transition plan: https://lnkd.in/dU_FzSAE We're pleased that Climate Arc was able to support this, another example of how we collaborate across a range of organisations that share the same goal of accelerating corporate transition Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) Sustainable Markets Initiative Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) Ninety One
