Building partnerships between business, government and public bodies to accelerate international sustainable development
About us
Climate Action was founded in 2007 and is based in London, UK. Climate Action was originally founded as a formal partnership with UN Environment – the world’s foremost body on environmental protection and stewardship. Climate Action now works with network of UN Agencies, major donors, governments, NGOs', intergovernmental organisations and over 1000 private sector companies. Our goal is to facilitate partnerships between these key stakeholders in order to accelerate the global green economy and achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. We are working in partnership with UNEP Finance Initiative on a programme of sustainable finance forums under the brand Sustainable Investment Forum which aim to increase Sustainable Responsible Investment (SRI) by major asset owners, investors and asset managers. We do this through a series of award winning forums, advocacy activity, webinars and digital and social communities.

🌍 Today is Earth Overshoot Day, the date when humanity’s demand on nature’s resources surpasses Earth’s capacity to regenerate them for the given year. Earth Overshoot Day falling on August 1st signifies that humanity is currently using nature 1.7 times faster than our planet’s ecosystems can regenerate. Such overuse compromises resource security. The consequences of ecological overspending are evident in deforestation, soil erosion, biodiversity loss, and the buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which leads to more frequent extreme weather events and reduced food production. Discover why there is still time to ditch this trend and why immediate action is crucial: https://lnkd.in/d-PQYyjq

At last month’s Climate Innovation Forum, Climate Arc launched #TransitionArc: a one-stop tool to assess corporate climate transitions. From financial institutions and policymakers, to aligned collaborators in climate action, the room was packed with over 200 #ClimateFinance stakeholders. In two panels, industry leaders discussed the value of the new tool, and ways in which we must work together towards common climate goals. Three key themes emerged from the discussions: 1. Convergence is key for those working in data, disclosure and transition frameworks, to enable effective decision-making in the real economy. 2. To drive action and ensure a virtuous circle where disclosure and data improve one another, empowering decision makers through data and analysis is crucial. 3. To move as fast as we need to, “unholy alliances” will need to be formed in the ecosystem, with a multi-dimensional approach to technology integration and metric expansion.
