Several announcements from today’s #KingsSpeech touch on areas that Cebr has produced research on. 🏘 Building on Labour’s commitment to reintroduce mandatory housebuilding targets of 1.5m new homes over five years, the King’s Speech included the Planning and Infrastructure Bill. Our work for Shelter and National Housing Federation shows that building 90,000 socially rented homes annually could add £51.2bn to the economy and provide much-needed affordable housing. 🧠 Reforming the Mental Health Act was another key proposal touched upon. Our recent research for Zurich Insurance shows that one of the main reasons for long-term sickness is mental health issues, and work absences due to long-term sickness could cost the economy £66.3bn a year by 2030 in lost productivity. Additionally, more work done on this topic for AXA found that poor mental health. ✈ A key manifesto pledge was on immigration. Our research on the economic impact of immigration to the UK shows that it is estimated to yield £3.3bn annually for public finances, as the UK has seen a near-threefold increase in non-EU immigration since 2018. 🏭 A flagship Labour policy, and one they’ve committed the most spending to, is launching Great British Energy. Our upcoming forecasting eye will propose how Great British Energy can lead the way in ensuring cleaner, more affordable, and secure energy for the UK. 🔜 Look out for our upcoming forecasting eye this Friday Read more here: https://lnkd.in/evnpUqnP https://lnkd.in/eCZb8fUW https://lnkd.in/eKDUmqpY
