More new #ZEV car models are available for under £30,000 compared to 2023, but no ZEV #van models are in this price range. As ZEV ownership moves past ‘early adopters’ into the more price-sensitive ‘early majority’ market segment, there is a shift in the average #consumer profile towards greater reliance on public charging and greater demand for lower cost vehicles. The rising cost of public charging and the lack of vehicle choice across lower price bands is a dual threat to wider uptake. Where it does work, ZEVs bed in. A recent survey by a leasing company found that over 75% of EV drivers wouldn’t go back to petrol or diesel, with significant annual savings reported ranging from £1,000 to £5,000 compared to ICE alternatives. However, around half of EV drivers also own a petrol or diesel vehicle, suggesting some hesitation in transitioning to electric vehicles fully. 2024 report online at roadtozero.co.uk #RoadtoZero #ReportCard #roadtransport #decarbonisation #ZEV #Demand #Infrastructure #Supply #Cars #Vans #Trucks

Our trainer Kev Briggs MIMI ran a Fair Wear & Tear Standard for Cars online for us this week with delegates from: Alphabet GB Fleet Assist Octopus Electric Vehicles We appreciated one delegate's very positive feedback "Kev was a brilliant host/trainer, he very clearly has a wealth of knowledge and is able to explain using stories from his own experiences, in an articulate way ensuring understanding of those that he is teaching. Despite already having some knowledge around BVRLA standards I felt like I came away with so much more of an understanding and confidence to enable me to put what I learnt into practice. I had some concerns on how easy it would be to learn over Microsoft Teams considering it is such a hands-on topic - I needn't have worried as the material used was informative and very easy to follow." BVRLA reposted this
Our Election Reflections series continued today with an engaging session featuring Toby Poston, Director of Corporate Affairs at the BVRLA, and hosted by Matthew Clark, Associate Director, Steer. In a timely conversation focused on the electric vehicle (EV) transition, our central question was, what strategies are essential for driving EV adoption under evolving policies? Our key takeaways were: - We need to embrace policy changes: Understanding and adapting to the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate and other policy shifts is crucial for accelerating EV adoption. - Infrastructure investment is vital: Significant investment in charging infrastructure is needed to support the growing number of EVs on UK roads. - Design for fleet transformation: Fleet operators are leading the way in EV adoption, but tailored strategies are needed for different vehicle types and uses. - Overcome adoption barriers: Addressing cost, awareness, and accessibility issues is vital to make EVs more attractive to a broader audience. - Collaboration is key: Strong partnerships between government and the private sector are essential to overcome challenges and drive progress. 🔗 Missed the event or want to be part of these important discussions? 🚦 Our Road to Zero Report is an annual assessment of the UK’s progress towards zero-emission road transport. Launched in 2019, it provides an overall ranking of progress before taking a deeper look at the respective performance of ZEV demand, infrastructure and supply. Progress for cars, vans, and HGVs are considered in isolation, due to their varying trajectories. #Rental firms continue to work hard to drive demand for ZEVs, but utilisation remains below that of petrol and diesel. Car utilisation is 73% for BEV vs 81% for ICE. Van utilisation 81% for BEV vs 88% for ICE. Apprehension around charging availability and waiting time remain a hurdle.
