👏 Huge congratulations to Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club for signing up to the United Nations Sport for Climate Action Framework. As part of becoming a signatory to the framework, the club has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, with the aim of reaching Net Zero by 2040 in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement. To support progress towards this goal, the Seagulls have launched their environmental sustainability strategy, My Albion My Planet, that sets out the club’s vision, key areas to prioritise action and outlines the process to embed sustainability across the club. The strategy targets six key areas that have been identified to focus action on reducing the environmental impacts from the club’s facilities, operations and supply chain, whilst promoting environmental responsibility amongst staff and fans to reduce waste, promote biodiversity and promote a culture of care for people and planet. Another big step forward for a BASIS member. We look forward to working with the club to achieve these ambitious goals. ➡ Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/dUnhkDDt

Congratulations to Emma Howard Boyd CBE and her team for publishing this important report. Climate change is disrupting sport at every level, and poses an existential threat to the future of the sports we love and play. The London Climate Resilience Review is clear on the scale of the challenge, and the actions we all need to take to rise to it. People are at the heart of sport - from school sports, grassroots community sports groups and teams through to professional levels. We need to build on the amazing sustainability initiatives British Association for Sustainable Sport members are already implementing in the capital and across the UK, and play a huge part in bringing people together to build resilience and tackle climate change across all parts of society.
