In an attempt to try and be summery (unlike the weather at the moment) this months NPD Day was all about picnic foods and chilled convenience! A great selection, just a shame we can't eat outside without a downpour 🌧☂️ Our products consisted of: - Pilgrim's UK Fridge Raiders Meat Free Bites - Waitrose & Partners Plant Living Mediterranean Rolls - Jack Link's Protein Snacks Peperami Chorizo Tapas - Squeaky Bean Vegan Duck Bites - Squeaky Bean Vegan BBQ Pork Rolls - Ember Snacks | B Corp™ Roast Chicken Bites - Waitrose & Partners Cheddar & Hot Honey Pinwheels - The Jolly Hog | B Corp  BBQ Pork Hoguettes - Waitrose & Partners Nduja & Mozzarella Calzones - Higgidy Sweet Potato Katsu Curry Lattices - Tesco Mint & Herb Tabbouleh What a yummy month! We enjoyed these picky bits, but our favourite had to be the vegan Squeaky Bean. Both the Duck & Hoisin Bites and the BBQ Pork Rolls were sublime. Who needs meat when the vegan versions taste this good? The flavours popped, the filling ratio was great, and the innovation was on point. We thoroughly recommend giving these a try as the meat eaters here were impressed, if a little sceptical at first! We also enjoyed the Tesco Tabbouleh, this was zesty and refreshing, perfect for a BBQ side. Waitrose & Partners did well with the Nduja Calzones which were cheesey and had a nice flavour combination, and the Hot Honey Pinwheels which packed a spicy punch. Whilst we enjoyed all the products, there were a couple which didn't quite hit the mark compared to the others. The Higgidy Sweet Potato & Curry Lattices were bland and overpowered in flavour by the Nigella Seed topping. The Peperami Chorizo was mega salty - not off-putting just a surprise. We also felt the The Jolly Hog | B Corp BBQ Hoguettes were a bit dry (although much better warmed up - as specified on the packaging). What a win for the Veggie and Vegan products this month! The sun has f-i-n-a-l-l-y decided to show its face and we are very much here for it! And the best way to cool down (in our opinion) is to have a nice big ice cream 🍦 😋 But what way (type?) is best?

Another month means another New Product Development Day! The theme this time was cereal bars, and there was a lot of new ones to choose from in the major retailers 🍏🍓🥥🍋🍫🌰 Our bars consisted of: - Nakd Fruit & Nut Bars Apple & Cinnamon Bars - Bio&Me I B Corp Toffee Apple Oat Bar - Creative Nature Superfoods Bursting Berry AND Cocoa Chocolate Bars - Jordans Dorset Ryvita Sticky Toffee Apple Bars - Deliciously Ella Lemon & Poppyseed Oat Bars - Perkier Foods Ltd I B Corp™ Salted Caramel & Dark Choc Bars - Nature Valley Granola Bars Soft Baked Chocolate Muffin Bars - The Gut Stuff Cocoa & Hazelnut AND raspberry & Coconut Fruit and Nut Bars This was a great tasting session! The variety of flavours, textures and ingredients was a welcome surprise in what is a very populated sector. We loved every single one of these, however there always has to be a winner...This time it goes to Bio&Me I B Corp Toffee Apple Oat Bars! These had a great balance of flavour, weren't too sweet, and the packing was made of paper too so it was completely recyclable. The Jordans Dorset Ryvita Bars (the same flavour) were much sweeter, smaller, and didn't have a clean ingredients list like Bio&Me. We also loved the Perkier Foods Ltd I B Corp™ Salted Caramel & Chocolate bars, these had a good helping of peanuts and were light. The Deliciously Ella Lemon & Poppyseed Oat Bars were refreshing, although a second flavour may have lifted them slightly. Nakd Fruit & Nut Bars Apple & Cinnamon Bars were dense date based bars which made a welcome change to oats and were very flavoursome. Although we liked everything this month, The Gut Stuff Raspberry & Coconut bars came in last place. Whilst vegan and gluten free, the flavour needed to be punchier! The chocolate variation was much better. Shout out to Creative Nature Superfoods Berry bars which tasted like pure unobscured fruit in a bar. Gluten-Dairy-Nut Free and vegan, this brand is a great choice when so many bars are oat based or may contain nuts. A few new products we have seen hitting the shelves lately that we had to try! - Giovanni Rana (Suisse) AG Garlic and Mozzarella filled gnocchi. Wow. These were sensational. 10/10 recommend if you love cheese, gnocchi and garlic. 🧄🧀 - Asda have got some new bbq bits and these Salmon and Prawn Tikka Burgers were delicious. A great alternative to the classic burger with a good tikka spice and big chunks of prawns. 🍔 - Sainsbury's have upped their ambient range and this quick on the go Green Pesto Pasta bag was surprisingly yummy. Put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and bam, lunch is served! 🍝 - Olly's Pretzels, Sour Cream & Onion or Sweet Chilli, currently BOGOF at Asda. Crunchy and covered in flavour, these went great with a dip. 🥨 - Eat Real + PROPER | WARP Snacks Flamed Grilled Steak Crisps, a solid crisp but needed more flavouring for us. 🥩 - Sainsbury's Red Pepper and Tomato Pasta, part of their new Food to Go / Salad range, this has a little spice and was filled with veg. 🫑🍅 - Sainsbury's Feta, Tomato and Oregano Quiche, we need more Quiche flavours and this is it. Summery and light, with a good helping of feta and tomato. 🍅 - Tony's Chocolonely have created a mix of biscuit and caramel sea salt bites covered in milk chocolate.
