We are thrilled to announce that Wealth & Finance International has recognized Bighous as "UK Best Impact-Focused Social Housing Investment Solution Provider" for the second consecutive year! Read the full article > https://lnkd.in/g5EXPVd9 Despite the challenges posed by Brexit, COVID-19, and most recently the financial macro environment, Bighous has remained steadfast in its mission: to make a tangible, positive impact on those most in need of housing across the UK while offering a meaningful investment opportunity for those committed to social and financial impact. Our Founder, Paolo Casamassima, remarked, “We are honored to be acknowledged once again as the #UK's most impactful social housing solution provider. I like to think at Bighous as a collective effort of a dedicated small team that includes builders, housing managers, maintenance crews, social housing and charity partners, investors, brokers, and non-executive directors, all working together to deliver impact through ‘Homes that Transform Lives.’ Currently, an astonishing 1 in 200 UK households continues to live in temporary accommodation, a figure that has more than doubled from 48,000 in 2010 to 112,000 in 2023. This year alone, we have housed over 100 vulnerable individuals across our properties, and we continue to operate at full occupancy across all our assets. Our long-term leases and contracts safeguard our cashflows from inflation and the historically high interest rate environment." We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported and continues to support us throughout the years: Lee Dillon Ian McLennan Mark Precious Nick Arbuthnott michele t Alessandro Casamassima Andreas Posavac Yulia Casamassima Tomasz Bilakiewicz, CFA Anneline Brown Steve Lemka Aashna Puri Emma T. About us
An ambitious social business, we deliver an effective solution to the chronic problem of poor housing stock and increasing numbers needing housing. Awarded NatWest #SE100Index. Uniquely we work with charity partners from the start to identify suitable distressed housing stock that could fulfill their needs. Once identified, we purchase and renovate it to the charity’s requirements, before leasing to them, enabling them to house the most vulnerable members of society. All of those we help house are in crucial need of care and support, facing significant life challenges. By working with charitable partners, we help ensure our housing provides a reliable and tailored place to stay for the tenants; a crucial step in their rehabilitation. This positive change would not be possible without a place to stay. We currently house 85 vulnerable tenants.

Why UK scores worst on homelessness. Some shocking facts revealed in this recent FT article. Summary: - The main form of homelessness is people living in temporary accommodation, the main driver is an inability to afford housing. In UK an astonishing 1 in 200 households currently lives in temporary accommodation. - After declining for several years, the number of English households living in temporary accommodation more than doubled between 2010 and 2023 from 48,000 to 112,000, the highest figure since records began. - Relative to population size, the UK builds fewer homes than the vast majority of other developed countries. This has sent private sector rents spiralling, exacerbated by a 25 per cent shrinking of the social housing sector since the 1970s, slowly closing a crucial safety valve. The homelessness crisis is at its heart a crisis of housing supply and affordability, and on both scores Britain fares the worst. #socialhousing #homelessness https://lnkd.in/dJG9PDgA
