Our super team in Scotland gave the BBC an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our Broxburn facility for a new documentary showcasing our recycling expertise. Site manager Marcin Olczyk and the team in Scotland showed BBC ALBA presenter Mairi Rodgers around the West Lothian site, which processes the recyclable waste from thousands of homes. The footage will be broadcast tonight as part of two 60-minute documentaries called Green Scotland, exploring how recycling is playing a vital role in the country’s efforts to become net zero by 2045. Viewers will see Mairi get hands-on at Broxburn, working on the line and speaking to Marcin about the benefits of recycling – as well as the problems of wishcycling. When to watch? 📺 Biffa stars in Episode 1 which will be shown on Monday 8th July 2024 at 9pm, and repeated the following night, Tuesday 9th July at 10pm. The results of the general election are in. What makes recycling plastic packaging challenging?     According to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) latest report in May 2022, out of the 2.5 million tonnes of plastic packaging waste produced in the UK market in 2021, only 44% got recycled.     Here are the most common challenges in recycling plastic packaging 👇
