🌟 We were delighted to provide Cornerstone VR certification training to practitioners at Cambridgeshire County Council Fostering and Adoption Service. Abby Cooke, one of our dedicated Cornerstone VR Service Managers, supported the teams to explore how they were going to embed the Cornerstone VR programme into their service. Ashleigh Clack, Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Social Worker at Cambridgeshire County Council shared: "VR training offers a level of immersion that traditional methods cannot replicate. By using a VR headset, trainees are transported into different scenarios which they or the children we support may have been through. This immersive experience engages multiple senses, making the learning process more effective and memorable. As a result, foster carers and social workers are better equipped to handle diverse situations they may encounter on the job." The team will start to deliver VR training across its Fostering Service in the coming weeks. We eagerly anticipate seeing its positive impact! #virtualreality #VR #training #fostering #socialwork

Experienced Social Worker @ Cambridgeshire County Council | Bsc Social Work

Virtual reality (VR) technology has revolutionised the way we approach training in various fields, including fostering and social work. By immersing trainees in realistic scenarios through VR simulations, foster carers and professionals can develop essential skills and empathy that are crucial for their roles. The benefits of using VR for immersive training in these professions are numerous and undeniable. Today I was fortunate enough to undertake training with Antser to be able to deliver this incredible training to our staff and foster carers. We had the amazing Abby Cooke deliver todays session and support us in our learning. We are very fortunate at Cambridgeshire County Council Fostering Service to have this opportunity to be able to take our training to the next level! Myself, our training lead, Claire Pickett and the rest of the team can’t wait to start delivering this training over the upcoming weeks. (As you can see we look rather fetching! 😂) VR training offers a level of immersion that traditional methods cannot replicate. By using a VR headset, trainees are transported into different scenarios which they or the children we support may have been through. This immersive experience engages multiple senses, making the learning process more effective and memorable. As a result, foster carers and social workers are better equipped to handle diverse situations they may encounter on the job. VR training also fosters empathy among trainees by allowing them to step into the shoes of others. Through simulated experiences, foster carers and social workers can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals under their care. This heightened sense of empathy enables them to provide more compassionate and effective support to those in need. I am so grateful to have this opportunity and excited to see what the future holds for the Cambridgeshire Fostering Service! 🎉 #virtualreality #VR #training #fostering #socialwork #WeAreCambs

💬 "Outstanding practise for our recent OFSTED inspection.." We’re proud to be working with Inspirations Children’s Homes, who have embedded Cornerstone VR into their staff recruitment, training, and development processes, as well as their direct work with children and young people. As part of Inspiration’s commitment to support looked after children, they have implemented various VR sessions to engage young people in realistic education about the risks they may be more vulnerable to. Led by their dedicated Assistant Psychologist, the sessions cover a range of topics including CSE and CCE, Insights into The Teenage Brain, Social Media Awareness, and Understanding Autism. These sessions have provided excellent evidence of research-informed key working sessions that strive to support children and young people to have the best possible outcomes. Following receiving an Outstanding OFSTED recognition, one of the team’s Deputy Managers shared how much the VR sessions have improved their outcomes: ‘The VR sessions that the children have taken part in have provided Outstanding practise for our recent OFSTED inspection. They were very impressed with the video's completed and how this has supported our children's understanding on different topics to support them, their knowledge and wellbeing.’ We’d love to speak to you about how we can work together to support your organisation and the children and young people you care for. Please get in touch with our dedicated team for a no-obligation conversation on what we can offer: 📧 hello@antser.com | ☎️ 0808 1756 414 #CornerstoneVR #VirtualReality

Do you advocate for a therapeutic approach when working with vulnerable children and young people? 👪 Many of our partners promote PACE and therapeutic practice across their service, yet some carers and professionals struggle to effectively model these techniques. In Cornerstone’s recent webinar, we showcased 2D versions of our immersive experiences to highlight the differences between a therapeutic approach and other methods when working with vulnerable children. Our attendees found that experiencing these scenarios from the child's perspective offers exceptional insight into effective implementation and the significant impact it can have. One attendee shared: "Demonstrating PACE and therapeutic responses is invaluable because it’s often challenging to show some carers how to apply them.” Another commented: “Many new foster carers believe that traditional parenting methods will suffice. This [Cornerstone VR] clearly illustrates the necessity for alternative parenting styles and their importance.” The Cornerstone VR programme includes several immersive scenarios, in both home and educational settings, allowing users to see these different styles from the viewpoint of the child. 🧠 Alcohol Awareness Week: Understanding Alcohol Harm and Supporting Individuals with FASD From 1-7 July 2024, we join thousands of individuals and organisations in recognising Alcohol Awareness Week, coordinated by Alcohol Change UK. This year's theme, 'Understanding Alcohol Harm,' encourages us to explore how alcohol impacts not just individuals, but families, communities, and society. One critical aspect of alcohol harm is its effect on unborn children. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a serious condition resulting from prenatal alcohol exposure, leading to lifelong physical, behavioural, and learning disabilities. It's a poignant reminder that alcohol doesn't just affect the drinker, but can have profound implications on future generations. As part of our commitment to providing better outcomes for children, young people and the teams around them, last year Cornerstone VR partnered with the National Organisation for FASD and Cambridgeshire Virtual School to create a new immersive VR experience promoting FASD awareness. The 360° film is shown from the perspective of an unborn child whose mother drinks alcohol at a party. Voiced by a young person living with FASD, this film vividly illustrates the potential impacts of prenatal alcohol exposure. Our partners use this VR experience to educate and inform those living with and supporting young people with FASD, including; birth families, foster carers, adopters, special guardians, residential workers, social care, and education professionals. 🖥️ 💬 We received some fantastic feedback from our latest webinar for #FosterCareFortnight 👇 Our Cornerstone team were joined by Norfolk County Council where we discussed how Cornerstone virtual reality is being used across their fostering and adoption services to support carers and professionals, with an aim to reduce the number of placement breakdowns. Cornerstone VR is an innovative training resource, supporting experiential and cognitive learning for carer givers. By allowing users to see through the eyes of vulnerable children and young people, they can gain unparalleled insights into trauma-informed practice. One attendee said: "It would complement the current trauma-informed training we offer to foster carers to support them with experiential learning as well as cognitively.” Another told us: "It is a very impactful way of allowing social workers and foster carers to have a better understanding of life through the eyes of the child." We’re delighted to share that our valued partners Key Assets (Australia) have been recognised by the Australian Institute of Family Studies for the implementation of Cornerstone VR into their trauma responsive training in Queensland. 👏 It’s great to see these photos from the Australian Institute of Family Studies conference last week, where Key Assets were selected to present on this topic. Cornerstone VR enables the viewer to acquire a different perspective, deepen their thinking, and experience situations from the perspective of a child. The trauma-responsive training has been delivered across over 100 educational personnel, foster carers, social workers, youth workers and NDIS therapists. It’s a unique approach offering a way to understand the impact of attachment and trauma, enabling users to better support the children and young people in their care. #FosterCare #ChildSafety #AIFS2024 #FamiliesThriving
