A brighter future for people with serious allergies.

About us

We’ve been supporting people living with serious allergies as a charity for nearly 30 years, offering information and support for individuals and their families, for businesses and for schools and other places of education. We provide resources for people with serious allergies that can be trusted and are both scientifically based and factually accurate. Most of what we offer is without charge and we rely on the generosity of our supporters to carry out our work. Our ultimate aim is to create a safe environment for all people with allergies by educating the food industry, schools, pre-schools, colleges, health professionals and other key audiences. Our focus is on medical facts, food labelling, risk reduction and allergen management. The AllergyWise online training programmes, developed by Anaphylaxis UK, provide information and support for families, carers and individuals as well as for health professionals. Anaphylaxis UK provides tailored services for individual and clinical professionals and also has a corporate membership programme.

A few weeks ago, our Information team had the pleasure of attending the opening of The Frankland-Kay Centre for Allergic Diseases at Imperial College London. The Centre aims to tackle some of the most pressing challenges affecting patients with allergies by bringing together an interdisciplinary team of experts from Imperial, St Mary's Hospital, and Royal Brompton Hospital. The event was both insightful and inspirational, highlighting the origins of allergy research and the latest advancements in the field. We are excited to see the ground-breaking work that will emerge from this Centre and the impact it will have on the lives of those affected by allergies.

There has been much said in the press this week regarding controversial comments made on This Morning regarding food allergies. It is obviously disheartening to see flippant comments being made on high profile platforms, that make light of the struggles faced by people living with allergies. But we are pleased that Professor Adam Fox, a member of the Anaphylaxis UK’s Clinical and Scientific Panel has today appeared on This Morning to raise awareness of food allergies and the importance of taking them seriously, as well as educating people on the negative impact that such comments can have on people affected by serious allergies. As we recognise our 30th anniversary milestone, incidents like this are a reminder that there is still much work to do to educate and inform those who may not understand the seriousness of living with allergies. But we are more committed than ever to continue working with well-known businesses, brands and individuals to ensure that comments trivialising food allergies become a thing of the past.
