After working a full 50 years for us at the AD24 workshop in Anston, our colleague Trevor Richardson is now looking forward to his retirement. Trevor (pictured here with our Service Centre Manager Alan Masters) started his light vehicle mechanical career as an apprentice before achieving his City & Guilds qualification which led to him becoming a heavy vehicle technician. In 1984, he progressed to mechanical chargehand and joined the 24-hour recovery team where he worked days and nights for over 20 years. Trevor’s long career has allowed him to amass am impressive amount of knowledge and turn his hand to any problem, including working as an MOT tester for VOSA. One of Trevor’s achievements has been his input in helping grow our apprenticeship scheme. Over the years, he provided support and knowledge to many young apprentices at the start of their successful careers. We're glad that he managed to overcome a serious illness in the last year and wish Trevor all the best in his extremely well-earned retirement as we thank him for his unwavering effort and commitment over the last 50 years!

We've delivered a new Enviro400 double deck bus to English independent operator Weardale Motor Services Limited. The Enviro400 is fitted with 85 comfortable seats with seatbelts, USB charging ports and wood-effect flooring to give passengers a comfortable experience on board. A digital tachograph enables the family-owned operator to use the double decker flexibly from its base in County Durham. Managing Director Anthony Gibson, whose grandfather founded the business in the 1920s, welcomed the new addition to the Weardale fleet: “The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 offers us great value for money through its combination of high capacity and standard bus technology. We bought a similar bus two years ago and it has been easy to maintain and efficient to operate, making this an easy choice for further investment.” Our Regional Sales Manager Martin Dunleavy added: “I’m delighted that our Enviro400 has established itself in the Weardale Motor Services fleet. I look forward to further supporting Anthony and his team, not least with two Enviro200 single deckers already in build for delivery later this year.”

⚡ Exciting news as Stagecoach Bus has just confirmed our largest single order for zero-emission buses so far! We’ll build 244 next-generation electric buses for the group’s operating companies in England over the next two years after it received funding from the second round of the UK Government’s Zero-Emission Regional Bus Areas (ZEBRA 2) scheme. 180 Enviro400EV double deckers will join similar vehicles that are currently being delivered. 54 Enviro200EV are the first order for our new integral single decker, which will launch next year to complement the current range of next-generation electric buses. 10 Enviro100EV small buses complete Stagecoach’s order. Stagecoach will benefit from our platform approach to vehicle development, which maximises the number of common parts and solutions across all three vehicle types to make them easy to drive and maintain. Our President & Managing Director Paul Davies said: “This landmark deal with Stagecoach confirms the benefits of our next-generation electric buses, which have been carefully designed to deliver a highly attractive total cost of ownership proposition. We are delighted to be driving value for Stagecoach through efficiency, longevity and flexibility.” Claire Miles, Chief Executive Officer for Stagecoach, said: “We’re excited to place the largest electric vehicle order to date for Alexander Dennis with these 244 new vehicles, which reflect Stagecoach’s commitment to transition to a zero-emission bus fleet. We will continue to build on our work to tackle climate change and connect communities across the UK sustainably and efficiently.” #LeadingtheZEvolution

⚡ Transdev Blazefield has launched the first of 19 electric Enviro400EV double deckers for The Harrogate Bus Company's iconic route 36. Transdev is the second customer to take delivery of our next-generation electric buses, and the first to employ them on a service with long stretches of interurban running at higher speeds. To facilitate all-day operation with departures up to every 10 minutes on the 27-mile route between Leeds, Harrogate and Ripon, the Enviro400EV are fitted with roof-mounted charging rails to allow their 472kWh batteries be topped up by pantograph during layovers at Harrogate bus station. The need for additional energy will nevertheless be kept to a minimum thanks to the Enviro400EV’s highly efficient driveline powered by the heavy-duty Voith Turbo Electrical Drive System. The new electric buses will build on route 36’s long tradition of pioneering innovation for an amazing customer experience by adding a smooth and quiet ride to the high-standard vehicle interiors that Transdev Blazefield prides itself on offering to its customers. Henri Rohard, Transdev Blazefield Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Alexander Dennis on the next generation of the 36. This service has a special place in Transdev Blazefield network. I believe that the configuration considered in this bus is the best available and integrates all the latest innovation that we could think of. The design has been considered to improve our passenger comfort, safety, and accessibility. We will continue to integrate after the launch, additional features to further boost the quality of our passenger and driver on board information.” Our President & Managing Director Paul Davies said: “Our Enviro400EV is excellently suited to the interurban nature of this service, with our heavy-duty driveline perfectly matched to the requirements of route 36, delivering the power required whilst offering the efficiency needed to comfortably cover high daily mileages. We’re combining this with class-leading warrantable energy throughput to ensure these buses will go further for longer, driving value for Transdev through their efficiency and longevity.” #LeadingtheZEvolution
