We've handed over five new Enviro200 single deckers to Welsh bus operator Lloyds Coaches. Family-owned Lloyds Coaches continually upgrades its modern fleet, which is one of the youngest in Wales. The new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 low-emission buses will benefit passengers on Cyngor Gwynedd (Gwynedd Council) routes G21, G23 and G24, linking local communities with Machynlleth, Dolgellau and Porthmadog. Each of the 9.7m long vehicles seats 33 passengers alongside a wheelchair user. The buses are fitted with audio-visual next-stop announcements and induction loops. The Enviro200 use the Alexander Dennis SmartPack efficiency technology to reduce emissions and improve the fuel economy of their Euro VI engines. The system combines engine stop/start with auxiliary load management and electric cooling fans. Lloyds Coaches Managing Manager, Dan Lloyd, said: “Lloyds Coaches is proud to continue its investment in new buses for our services, benefitting our passengers and the communities served by our routes. ⚡ Our next-generation Enviro400EV was recently in Blackpool as part of a planned demonstration with Blackpool Transport Services Limited. The bus performed even better than our simulated route analysis predictions! First, the bus went out on day one at 5.00am, returning at 6.30pm with 44% charge remaining. Second, with our energy throughput of 1.6GWh available, this outstanding performance could provide Blackpool with more than 15 years of energy to perform their duty cycles.   James Clough, Commercial & Finance Director at Blackpool Transport drove the bus for its first shift and had this to say: "We were delighted with our demonstrator from Alexander Dennis. Our customers were able to experience the future of transport in Blackpool on Service 14 with an electric bus trial of the next-generation Enviro400EV. I was impressed with the improvements made to the working environment for bus drivers with the new steering wheel, configurable dashboard display and improved heating, cooling and ventilation in the cab." #LeadingtheZEvolution

We've delivered a third Enviro400 double decker to Crosskeys Coaches & Travel in time for the Kent operator's free “Reach the Beach” summer service 51, which links Folkestone’s railway stations with the seaside during the school holidays to provide a car-free alternative for beachgoers. Crosskeys provides this service in partnership with Kent County Council with funding from the government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan. The new Enviro400 offers 85 seats fitted with three-point belts alongside a fixed wheelchair space easily accessed via a ramp at the main passenger door. Crosskeys Managing Director Alan Johnson said: “Our Enviro400 have proven themselves to be versatile buses over the last two years, allowing us to accommodate large groups easily while keeping our costs to a minimum thanks to their reliable design and great fuel economy.” Our Regional Sales Manager Mark Taylor added: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Alan and his team at Crosskeys Coaches for this investment in another high-capacity bus. Its use on the beach service in Folkestone will be a great advert of modern and sustainable transport for the local community as they enjoy their summer.”
