The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Flight Challenge was established to help build the ecosystem needed to accelerate the introduction of advance air mobility, drones, and zero-emission regional aircraft in the UK. We are incredibly proud to see Projects: BLUEPRINT, Swarm and ALIAS successfully demonstrate their progress in advanced aviation solutions earlier this month. 👏 👉Project BLUEPRINT has demonstrated the progress made to deliver a template for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) drone operations by developing a range of exciting innovations including detect and avoid technology, unscrewed traffic management, and supporting development of regulations to enable similar flight operations. 👉Fresh from their success gathering scientific and environmental data in Antarctica, Future Flight Challenge participant, Project Swarm has demonstrated exciting new technologies, using Windracers drones, to demonstrate new approaches to combating wild fires. 👉Project ALIAS have recently demonstrated a range of new Future Flight technologies in Jersey, including drones and enabling technologies for air taxis and piloted aircraft all to operate in a shared environment to deliver economic and societal benefit for the UK and Channel Islands. All projects are part-funded by the Future Flight Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK and ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council To find out more about the Future Flight Challenge visit: https://ow.ly/UkUH50SvJvT or Visit us at the Farnborough Airshow on the UKRI Stand in Hall 1. #FutureFlight #zero-emission

Universal Hydrogen, developer of a liquid-hydrogen powered retrofit system for regional aircraft, has “proved unable to secure additional funding to move forward”; despite raising over $100 million to date. In a statement, chief commercial officer and co-founder Jon Gordon said: “Perhaps we were just too early. Perhaps we couldn’t convince the world that hydrogen, and not just SAF, are necessary for the future of aviation. Time will tell”. Full story: https://lnkd.in/eXpUGAHq
