🧩 Individual identities... team identities... organisational identity - it’s not as simple as ‘bringing your whole self to work’. Today, the team at Active Gloucestershire dove into this complex topic during a workshop facilitated by Ismail from Focal Elements, hosted by Gloucestershire Deaf Association. We started with a fundamental question about identity: What does your name say about you? This sparked insightful conversations about diversity of identity - individual, collective, and intersectional. We pondered what's innate, what we acquire, and how others label us. Key themes included fostering inclusivity and belonging while respecting boundaries. We explored examples of privilege, control, and safety, discussing how these aspects impact individuals in a variety of ways and the positive actions we can all take as allies. We also explored the challenges that arise when identities clash - in meetings, at events, or during partnerships. We considered how organisational values can be an anchor for culture and behaviour, supported by policies and process. Though it was only a 3-hour workshop, it left us with plenty of personal and team reflection! On a Wednesday (or actually, any day of the week that colleagues wish to take it) we give our colleagues a wellbeing hour. They are actively encouraged to use that time for themselves for their wellbeing. Some of the team take a gym class, some go for a walk, do mindfullness and some walk their dogs! From time to time, we also decide to get together and do something, we play tennis or even do some arts and crafts! Today some of our team went on a lovely wellbeing walk, followed by coffee and pastry of course 😍. Its a really simple addition to our wider culture and wellbeing support at Active Gloucestershire and it’s probably one of the things the team appreciates the most too 🫶

Active Ageing Network!👋 We are pleased to announce that our Active Ageing Network is returning in Autumn 2024. If you are passionate about the health and activity of older adults we would love for you to join us. We aim to bring together a diverse range of people and organisations to consider the collective action that we can take to enable Active Ageing in Gloucestershire and creating a county where people Live Longer Better. This session welcomes: Community Leaders, Organisations, Community Groups, Activity Providers, Volunteers, Educators and Local Residents. We're thrilled to share that Active Gloucestershire is the first of 9 organisations taking part in our local coach engagement pilot 🎉 Active Gloucestershire have been doing amazing things to get their county moving, doing everything from community yoga events to championing the Play Their Way movement across events, clubs and conferences. We're excited to see how they continue to build the Play Their Way community 💪 They said: "We are thrilled to participate in the Play Their Way coach engagement pilot, which aligns with our core belief that young people are at the heart of our work. We hope to use this platform to connect with a wide group of coaches to expand our learning of child-first coaching in the county and to grow the network of coaches who take a child-first approach. It is a great opportunity to share the resources already available and also build on those with local ideas and experience." 🙏 Thank you to all the amazing clubs, coaching organisations and Active Partnerships who applied to be part of this pilot - we are excited to be working alongside many of you and to hopefully keep growing 🌱
