It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Andrew Bedwin, our highly regarded Senior Advisor, who died unexpectedly last Saturday. Andy, as he was known to colleagues, joined 90POE four years ago, quickly becoming a firm friend to all and making a significant impact across the organisation with his wisdom and knowledge. His passion for maritime, and in particular shipping, was unparalleled, and he was determined to make a difference across the sector. Andy's dedication and enthusiasm supported our team to perfect our platform, for which he believed wholeheartedly in, and he was a passionate advocate for 90POE’s approach. Andy's legacy will forever be imprinted within the ethos of our organisation and for that we are grateful. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Andy’s family, friends and wider network at this sad time. Rest in peace, Andy. You are dearly missed by all. We are in contact with Andy’s family and a private funeral will be held in due course. If you would like to share any reflections or thoughts we will be happy to pass these on to his family.

Celebrating 50 Years of WISTA UK 🎉 We joined the celebration of WISTA UK's 50th anniversary yesterday at the International Maritime Organization. The event, with our Head of Marketing, Rosy Staines, in attendance, was marked by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and solidarity, highlighting the role of diversity and inclusion in driving the maritime industry forward. At yesterday's Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) Digital Technology Group Seminar, Richard Buckley, Founder & CEO of 90POE and Chair of the Digital Technology Group, led the event which explored important topics regarding the shipping industry’s decarbonisation efforts, including CII, EU ETS, FuelEU, and the IMO 2030 and 2050 targets. The seminar featured presentations by Rikard Karlsson, Head of Vessel Technology and Connectivity at Stena Line, and Jesse Bryce, Commercial Fleet Performance Manager at Union Maritime Ltd. Key takeaways included: 🌍 Transitioning to a data-driven organisation by integrating AI and data analytics to meet sustainability goals. Approaches include standardising data across the fleet and leveraging digital twins for optimisation. 🌍 Exploring early opportunities with a focus on alternative fuels for oceanic operations and electrification for coastal ones. Wind propulsion technologies were also highlighted as a viable option, emphasising their potential for significant fuel and CO2 savings. 🌍 Crew uptake of digital tools and a united approach to becoming a data driven organisation were also highlighted as key areas for consideration. This insightful seminar showcased how digital innovation can drive the industry's shared decarbonisation goals, providing an opportunity to explore the latest digital strategies while networking with industry leaders.
