To everyone who's applied for an internship through our programmes - we need you! We are currently working on a project with Clearview Research to better understand the impact The 10,000 Interns Foundation has had on the lives of interns that have taken part in the programme. Specifically, we want to hear your views on whether the programmes have supported your career progression, impacted your inclusion in the corporate world, or helped you form a new community. Through this survey we are looking to hear honest and informed feedback from 10,000 Interns’ alumni and current interns who have engaged with the 10,000 Black Interns Programme. We are also looking to hear from people who have not been successful in gaining an internship on the programme. To thank you for your time, everyone who completes a survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of our five £50 Amazon vouchers. To share your experience, and help inform our next impact report, please click on the link below: https://lnkd.in/e2hZtrqz We'd love to hear from you by Tuesday 23rd of July 2024.

An incredible night celebrating the release of Rebecca Achieng Ajulu-Bushell’s highly-anticipated book, These Heavy Black Bones! Rebecca’s journey is truly extraordinary. As an ex-athlete, she made history as the first Black woman to swim for GB, was honoured by both Forbes and TIME and of course, serves as our dedicated CEO at The 10,000 Interns Foundation as a trailblazer for equity for opportunity and experience for Black talent. These Heavy Black Bones chronicles Rebecca’s iconic swimming career and the barriers she shattered along the way. Her book is not only a testament to her remarkable achievements but also a beacon of inspiration for anyone striving to make their mark. During the event, Rebecca shared her insights on breaking barriers and the power of resilience. She captivated the audience with a powerful book reading and an insightful Q&A session leaving everyone inspired to reflect on their own paths and ambitions. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, our alumni for joining us and our exceptional host, Tiyana. Lastly, congratulations to Rebecca on the launch of your incredible book - we’re all eagerly looking forward to reading it!

CEO of The 10,000 Interns Foundation, First Black woman to swim for Great Britain | TIME List, Forbes 30 Under 30, Global 100 Most Influential People of African Descent | Author & Speaker
How did 10,000 Black Interns build the fastest growing pipeline of Black talent in the UK? We literally just talked to our students We listened to their ideas We co-created and partnered with them We built a space for their development (the way they wanted) We took time with them And we supported their ideas outside of our programme. This is how you grow trust And this is how you really create impact By being a community led (and run) organisation. Shout out University of Warwick African-Caribbean Society (ACS) - Can't wait to see what we do together in the 2024/25 cycle! P.S, this meeting happened because Elwin Mugenzi and his friends stopped me in the street in Hackney !!

‘Change is everyone’s responsibility - those on the pitch and those in the stands.’ Join us in honouring the spirit of resilience and excellence demonstrated by Saka and his teammates who remind us that meaningful actions surpass performative gestures. At The 10,000 Interns Foundation, we strive to create environments within workplaces where Black excellence can flourish. It's not just about providing opportunities, but about actively fostering an inclusive culture where diverse talent can thrive. We call on you to champion diversity and inclusion with purpose. Pledge to hire an intern through our 10,000 Black Interns programme to help create a more equitable professional landscape. By doing so, you invest in the future of young Black professionals, ensuring that talent, not bias, shapes our industries. Pledge now to foster diversity and equity of opportunity. Be a catalyst for change: https://lnkd.in/dgPjnQEU
Remember these names: Saka, Palmer, Bellingham, Toney, Alexander-Arnold. Not just for their goals, but for their courage and for proactively rewriting the narrative. Three years ago, hate overshadowed Black footballers' talent. Isn't it ironic that a sport celebrating skill and teamwork can be so stained by bias? Yet, this England team refused silence. Their win is a stark reminder: to deny talent it’s due is a loss for all - regardless of skin colour. The football field mirrors our professional landscape. Unconscious bias can sideline exceptional Black colleagues, hindering both individual growth and company success. Let's cultivate environments for Black excellence to thrive in every corner of our workplaces, not just on scoreboards. Saka and his teammates remind us of the impact of superseding performative gestures. Let's take diversity and inclusion personally and champion such initiatives with genuine purpose. May their resilience be yet another reminder that change is everyone’s responsibility - those on the pitch and those in the stands. Even when the whistle blows and the game is over, the fight for equality has just begun.
