Welcome to the University Exploratory Studies Program

Whether you're an incoming first-year student or are hoping to change your major, we have plenty of resources to help you find the right degree program and make the most out of your time at Oregon State University

WHAT IS UESP?

The University Exploratory Studies Program (UESP) is the academic home for students who have chosen to explore their options prior to deciding on a major. UESP is very similar to Oregon State's academic colleges, as we provide academic support to assure that our students are making satisfactory progress toward a degree. We offer a comprehensive range of services to help students make informed decisions about their academic coursework and potential majors they're considering.

Supporting an Explorer

Family and trusted loved ones can be extremely important voices in the conversation. It can be very helpful to students to have close confidants in the process. Support your explorer by encouraging to be active in the process by sampling areas of interest, engaging with their teaching faculty, and checking in regularly with their UESP advisor. OSU's Parent and Family website can be a very helpful resource to you to stay connected to OSU's calendar and support networks. Click the link below to access it.

Ecampus Student Resources

The same exploration philosophy and principles we use with on-campus students applies to Ecampus students -- learning more about yourself, major, and career options is the best way to discover a major that fits.  Our goal is to help you actively explore your major opportunities at OSU’s Ecampus. Familiarize yourself with Ecampus major and minor offerings. There is a larger range of options than you might expect! A great starting point is to take ALS 114 Career Decision Making. The instructor will guide you through the process of learning more about your interests, values, and strengths to help you set the foundation for learning more about academic and career paths that might be a good fit for you.

We know that there is a lot to figure out as a UESP student and your advisor will support you through this exploration by checking-in at least once a term to discuss your next steps
