Ukrainian Interbank Payment Systems Member Association "EMA"

Hi dear friends!   I believe it’s never too late to share good professional news and thoughts especially in case if delay was caused by my vacation😊 June 12th   7th Global EAST Congress was held in the Headquarter of Europol in the Hague. Ukraine is presented in the European Association for Secure Transactions by Ukrainian Interbank Payment Systems Member Association "EMA" as a National Representative since June 2012.   First challenge that EMA met since joining EAST was collecting of comprehensive #statistics on #ATM #fraud, logical and physical attacks in ATMs in #Ukraine. Implementing of this approach helped us to improve both external and internal visibility and to obtain reliable statistics for risk mitigation strategies and operational decisions. Fraud trends steadily have been changing to #CNP #fraud and #scams and the same as 12 years ago we are facing the challenge how to obtain reliable statistics on these cases, what methodology to choose. That was one of the most discussable questions raised during the 7th EAST Congress and I am sure since this initiative will be finally implemented the industry will obtain the real gift. What are the main challenges here from Ukrainian perspective? Here we have 3 sources of statistics: 1)     CyberPolice Department of National Police of Ukraine – statistics is based on the number of cases and amounts from victim’s claims. 2)     National Bank of Ukraine – statistics is based on the reported confirmed losses both clients and banks. 3)     Association EMA - statistics is based on the amounts and numbers of fraudulent transactions. Although all of them are highlighting the same trend – permanent growth of CNP fraud and scams,  in result we obtain different absolute numbers. I believe that situation could be very similar in different countries. And, dear friends,  it is curios for me to know if you have overcome these challenges in your countries, how have you managed this and what sources of statistics on CNP fraud and scams are you relying on in your everyday work and for strategical needs. Hi dear friends! This Tuesday I was kindly invited by Andrii Kuzmenko to visit IBM TechXchange – cool highly professional event conducted in hybrid format. The most bravery ones came to the IBM office😊 The office is situated on the top floor in the modern tower built on the one of the seven picturesque Kyiv’s hills. So, the view from the panoramic windows is amazing. The topics I liked mostly: 1) AI in Cybersecurity – friend of foe? Let’s discuss use cases for both; 2) EU legislation overview in Cybersecurity: challenges and new opportunities. It was a real pleasure to meet colleagues, to talk personally, to discuss Ukrainian challenges and opportunities in cybersecurity and SOC culture development. Hi dear friends! Twenty years of EAST, twelve years EMA’s membership in EAST. Together we have passed raising and decreasing of #skimming, #TRF, #physical and #logical attacks on #ATMs in #Europe, now we are observing social engineering #fraud phenomena and investigating relay shimming attacks. During all these years each of us has been sharing obtained best-practices, knowledges and experience to make others stronger, more experienced and well prepared to new challenges. EAST always has supported Ukrainian Interbank Payment Systems Member Association "EMA" and #Ukraine in the most difficult and dark times. 12 years ago EMA was searching for professional community and has found the community of friends and like-minded persons  sharing the same professional and human values. To this anniversary I am wishing all EAST team and members inspiration and strength to implement all ambitious strategic plans and to complete the mission.
