Ryan Murphy‘s upcoming Hulu legal drama All’s Fair has lost one of its big stars: Halle Berry is exiting the series, just a week after her casting was announced, a source confirms to TVLine. Our sister site Variety first reported the news, adding that Berry dropped out “due to a scheduling conflict.”
Glenn Close and Kim Kardashian remain in the cast, with both set to serve as executive producers. As previously reported, the Hulu series — touted as “a high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural” — is eyeing a late 2024 production start date for an early 2025 launch. Kardashian will take on the role of Los Angeles’ most successful divorce lawyer working at an all-female law firm. (No details on Close’s role have yet been released.)
Murphy will write, direct and executive-produce as part of his overall deal with Disney. Additional writers/EPs include Jon Robin Baitz (Bothers & Sisters, FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans), Joe Baken (American Horror Stories), Jamie Pachino (So Help Me Todd, Chicago P.D.), Laura Greene and Richard Levine (Masters of Sex, Nip/Tuck). Kris Jenner also executive-produces.
Kardashian most recently starred as a cutthroat publicist in FX’s American Horror Story: Delicate, which premiered Part 2 on Wednesday, April 3. Her performance was well received by critics and fans alike despite mixed responses to her initial casting.
Close’s TV credits include The Shield, Damages, The New Look, Tehran and The Simpsons (as Mona Simpson).
Berry, meanwhile, starred in the Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series Extant. She also appeared on The Bernie Mac Show, Frasier, Martin, Knots Landing, A Different World and They Came from Outer Space, and voiced an episode of The Simpsons.
How are you feeling about this latest casting news? Will you tune in?
I mean…what the hell?
Why on earth would Glenn Close and Halle Berry (especially Close) do a show with a Kardashian? Even working with Murphy is beneath both of them, but Kardashian is another level.
Truly gobsmacked!
Maybe because Kim is a decent actress? Seems like you didnt watch her season of AHS.
No she’s not.
I watched three episodes – she’s not Greg. You’re kidding yourself. She played a version of herself in a lightweight soapy, cheesy drama.
The idea that she could share a screen with Close and Berry is laughable.
Of course she’s not Greg. She’s Kim.
I was just telling my child the original seasons of AHS had the most talented casts! We stopped watching when it got bad. Decent actress? So there were no “better” actresses? But Tyler Perry did say her social media/name was more important than talent. Ryan did an excellent job with OJ and Versace movies.
No she’s not she just played herself and I’m pretty sure she’s going to act the same way for this show. She’s just another Emma Robert’s that only know how to play themselves on everything they do.
I feel sorry for these two.
I’m not sorry for the hundreds of jobs that will be created as a result of this production. If you’ve been following the news you would know that studios have been cutting way back. Those what work on production have been losing everything. A high budget production like this with 4 very high profile people means that people can make mortgage and car payments, feed their children and keep the lights on. This production will be filmed in Los Angeles. Projects have been fleeing Los Angeles or been cut altogether. Why is anyone against below the line people working. It’s easy to trash Kim and the Kardashians. Bottom line, she got a project greenlight, probably for 2 seasons and she’s keeping people employed. Hate all you want but these are the facts. Do the research. Production in Los Angeles is dying. These people are suffering like so many American families. This show for as much as you want to judge will help a lot of people.
That’s a headline I thought I’d never read!
Wow, talk about slumming it. I hope Close and Berry are making bank on this.
So she failed to have a real legal career and has now decided to play a lawyer on TV?
Agree with the other replies. I’m so disappointed in Glenn and Halle.
I get wanting to work with Ryan Murphy because he does really write and produce solid roles for women, so Glenn Close and Halle Berry signing on makes a lot of sense, but there is no power in the universe that will compel me to watch a show starring Kim Kardashian, it doesn’t matter who the rest of the cast is.
I CANNOT EXPECT HER TO BE AS GENUINE AS GLENN CLOSE…THERE ARE A LOT OF ACTING ROLES TO GLENN CLOSE AND NOT MANY FOR KIM…..TIME WILL TELL IF ACTING IS GOING TO BE HER LIFESTYLE…..SHE WILL BE GRADED……
Kim was graded. Disney gave her the title role in her own series. Halle and Glenn are earning less. There is your answer.
…and so will you…
Glenn is doing another legal drama? From Rose Byrne to Kim K….oof. And Ryan is not a good writer so i don’t get what the appeal is for either of them.
ugh. why put acting power houses with that? now i won’t even watch it.
This will be the closest chance KK gets to being a real attorney.
I so want to see Halle and Glenn in a legal drama, but no way can I support a show that sadly has them playing second fiddle to a Kardashian.
Glenn Close already starred in arguably one of the best legal dramas ever created. There is no way an over-the-top Ryan Murphy show will even come close to the brilliance that was Damages, especially if her co-star is Kim Kardashian. I hope Glenn bails on this too.
Wow… that was a shockingly fast turn around…
