Bob the Builder Film in the Works, Starring Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos
Can Anthony Ramos fix it? Yes, he can!
The Hamilton alum is attached to star in a feature-length Bob the Builder movie, based on the popular children’s series.
The animated film will find Ramos voicing Roberto aka Bob, who travels to Puerto Rico for a major construction job. There, according to the project’s synopsis, “he takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people.”
The movie is currently in development via Mattel Films and Jennifer Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions. Felipe Vargas, who is directing the upcoming horror film Rosario, is attached to write the script.
Bob the Builder originated in the U.K., centering on the titular contractor and the friends, neighbors and talking equipment that helped him complete new construction projects despite the obstacles in their way. It ran from 1999 to 2011 across the pond; Stateside, episodes aired on Nickelodeon (as part of the daytime Nick Jr. lineup) and later on PBS Kids. A CGI-animated reboot also aired in the U.K. from 2015 to 2018.
Ramos is best known for originating the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Broadway production of Hamilton, including the version currently available on Disney+. On the small screen, his credits include She’s Gotta Have It, In Treatment and Blindspotting, while his film work includes Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and the movie musical In the Heights.
People took all the wrong lessons of why Barbie was a hit… It wasn’t toy = money. It was divisive IP on the hands of a filmmaker with a point to make about the controversy. Much like Oppenheimer takes a controversial historical figure and has a thesis on him.

Couldn’t they just reboot Handy Manny with him instead and finally give us the answers on how Kelly’s Hardware Store never charged him for supplies? :p
Dunno bout the states, but Neil Morrisey as Bob was kinda iconic at the time in the UK.
Seems an odd property to bring back especially as a movie.
