Donnie Wahlberg and other Blue Bloods cast members marked the last day of filming the CBS family drama’s last batch of episodes.
It was announced in November that Blue Bloods would end with Season 14; the first 10 episodes aired February through May, and the last eight will roll out this fall. Series lead Tom Selleck and other cast members had lobbied for the show to continue, but CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach has held firm that it’s time for Blue Bloods to turn in its badge. “It’s important to us to refresh the schedule,” Reisenbach told press in May. “We are going to end the show come December.”
And now, that “end” is being committed to film.
“Last day of Blue Bloods,” Wahlberg, who since Day 1 has played Danny Reagan, shared Thursday on Instagram. “Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special Blue Bloods journey, but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it.
“To the cast, the crew, the guest cast, every background actor, writer, producer and every member of every single dept — thank you,” he continued. “To the people of New York, in every neighborhood and borough, thank you for always showing your love. To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope we did you proud. Lastly, to my fans, and the fans of this show. We don’t make it 14 days (never mind 14 years) without you! Your love and support for this show has been one of the great blessings of my life. Thank you.”
Wahlberg’s longtime scene partner, Marisa Ramirez (who since Season 3 has played Maria Baez), also weighed in on the momentous occasion.
“Last day of Blue Bloods!” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t have the words yet to express my joy or my sadness but at least I have a homemade sticker shield from Violet to replace the one I had to give back to props today. The sweetest….” (See the photo of her real-life daughter’s craft below.)
Vanessa Ray, who played Eddie Janko Reagan for 11 seasons, shared on her Instagram story a photo of her, Wahlberg and Ramirez hugging on-set, accompanied by the words “last day feels” and “I love them so much it hurts.”
At an early June stockholders meeting, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted that a new Blue Bloods series is in the works, though it was not clear if any such offshoot would be for CBS or Paramount+. “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods,” Robbins said.
Blue Bloods‘ final eight episodes will air this fall, on Friday at 10/9c as ever.

Blue Bloods should not have been cancelled!
How awfully sad! I’m still really hoping for a hail Mary right now for an UNcancellation. Such a great show! I will miss them much. Probably they need someone like Moore to throw a fit and cry tears to get the powers that be to change their minds (TWICE) and #SaveBlueBloods!
I feel like this is CBS “throwing an elbow” to the rest of the network. Play ball or die.
The cast had to take a pay cut just to make this final season alone that was the sign the end was near. Does anyone really think the show was long for this world after that? And honestly once Linda died the show lost its rhythm Eddie some how became the insufferable final voice of how everyone even the police commissioner should do their jobs. And also those pandering that Danny hook up with Biaz this is Blue Bloods not Chicago pd or SVU. Better to end blazing than slowly fizzling out.
If it was getting so bad how come you still know pretty much the entire storyline? If it has become close to fizzling out or if Eddie is so terrible why are you still watching it? Linda died like 5 or 6 years ago now yet you still are up on everything. When I watch a show and feel it jumps the shark I quit watching
Because Danny and Henry are the only pretty decent characters left and Joe too in the episodes he isn’t written like some reckless meathead. Or do you think you alone can decide why someone watches a show?
CBA is making one of its biggest mistakes ever.
Maybe it’s time for CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach to be retired. She is the only one who seems to think the show should end. The rest of us feel there is a whole lot more story to tell.
This feels like the end of an era. Id say the same for any successful long running series. You dont last as long as Blue Bloods without the support of the fans and a talented team across all levels making the show.
C’mon, it had to be cancelled. Otherwise how would they fit in that soon to be ratings juggernaut of Hollywood Squares with Drew Barrymore.
Sad, isn’t it? Maybe CBS needs new leadership.
I will miss the show immensely. But not disrespectful Danny. I will surely miss Jamie and Eddie and hopefully they will announce they will be having a baby. That someone will be announcing another wedding or just a new love in their lives. But thank GOD for reruns.
I think that Blue Bloods fans simply don’t understand the business of TV. Advertisers pay more money for ads on shows that have high viewership in the key demographic, 18-?, aka young people with disposable income. Furthermore, Blue Bloods airs on Fridays. People in the key demographic don’t sit at home to watch TV on Fridays. This is not even considering the high cost of long running shows. Comparable long running shows like Law & Order SVU & Grey’s Anatomy have had to undergo significant cast changes to continue airing on TV. The only way that Blue Bloods to even have a chance to continue airing would be to cut more than half their cast. Do fans really want that? Lastly, the slow death of syndication has also removed a once lucrative pathway for profitability, so Blue Bloods wouldn’t even be able to use that as a lifeline. I think fans should appreciate the fact that you will be getting closure. Not everyone gets that.
Yes, but it still made money for CBS. This is just a reason to get rid of conservative actors and viewers.
paranoid much.
If it made money, it would have been renewed.
Sorry, ToeTag Joey — this liberal Democrat watched from Day One and is still watching (and buying the DVDs). The show wouldn’t have had the ratings it did without a large number of non-conservatives watching.
Well said. The ‘fans’ are so delusional they keep making mundane excuses to justify an expensive show to stay on air. The cast took a payout just to make the final season alone and that was the beginning of the end did they really think the cast would be doing a show for charity if their salaries were reduced.. And truth be told Blue Bloods ended long ago all what became left was the Eddie Sue show.
What death??? BB on multiple cable channels as well as multiple streaming outlets… I am curious if the smoke about followup is true or not…
They need to right the one mistake they made before the series ends. Bring Linda back! Have her character been kidnapped, before she supposedly got on that helicopter, and being held by the drug cartel. Danny and Baez unwittingly find her while tracking down a cop who was supposedly killed but that their death was faked so that they could be held and tortured in a makeshift prison. Danny is both happy Linda is alive but also devastated that she was suffering all this time and he thought she was resting in peace.
I just feel that since this show skews older AND the actors primarily are more conservative, the reason for “freshening the schedule” is an excuse to rid us of a good show that has provided viewers hours of reliable entertainment AND CBS reliable income.
You sound like a nutjob. Not everything is a conspiracy theory to silence conservatives. If that truly was CBS’s goal, then why are they developing a Blue Bloods spinoff?
Ironically is CBS biggest show is NCIS and you can’t get more ‘conservative’ than a show about the military.
Let’s reserve judgment on the Blue Bloods spinoff until we see how many gay couples and transgender cops are on the new show. Blue Bloods has been about the only show left with an all-straight cast, unequivocally masculine men and smart, strong, decidedly feminine women.
Just because Selleck is a conservative doesn’t mean the rest of the cast is. Grow up.
You’re right. It doesn’t mean all the viewers are, either.
So they cancelled Blue Bloods and replaced it with “fresh” shows like Matlock and another NCIS spinoff
sorry its is the best show on tv.
I will miss them It’s. Great Show
Shame on you Amy Reisenbach!! you have one of the most decent and inspiring show and you cancell it? really? once again…SHAME ON YOU!!
One of the best shows ever. It never ceased to be exciting, funny, and of course alot of drama. It showed family at its best worst and in between but always they came back together as a family should. Their loyalty and hard work for NewYork police department. I think it showed the police department and all the hard work they do everyday to keep people safe. Such a loss for CBS
Still can’t believe CBS cancelled this show. One of the best ever on TV, great family values. CBS has cancelled two many of my favorites. Can’t imagine there wasn’t some way to keep this and NCIS:Hawaii. And NO, I will not be watching the new NCIS, who cares where Jethro got his start? That ship has sailed.
Back to Blue Bloods, wish them all well and we are going to miss our Friday night show. Thanks for many good years.
Five characters were in it from start to finish and several others almost from the start. Compare that to One Chicago
Blue Bloods has been one of the very few series in TV history that has maintained its superb quality from beginning to end. The cast has been superb, all extraordinarily likable characters. (Most shows have at least one character who, intentionally or not, is as annoying as fingernails on a chalkboard, but not Blue Bloods.) Almost all of the important and beloved characters were there for the entire run – only Linda’s (Amy Carlson’s) abrupt and somewhat contrived death marred that perfect score.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that it will be tough for CBS to come up with anything that will hold our attention, or our loyalty, the way Blue Bloods has. I’ll be really sorry to see it end.
I’m heartbroken. I can’t believe they cancelled Blue bloods. It’s been must see TV on Friday night since the first episode. Yes, I watched the first episode at 10 pm. Guess the network doesn’t care about the regular (non-streaming) viewer.
