The Bachelor: Colton Underwood Announced as Season 23 Suitor
Colton Underwood will be the one handing out roses come January, as ABC has tapped him to be The Bachelor‘s Season 23 suitor.
Underwood first appeared on Season 14 of The Bachelorette, where he competed for Becca Kufrin’s heart (and notably revealed to her that he is still a virgin). After getting eliminated in fourth place, he went on to participate in Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise and struck up a relationship with former Bachelor contestant Tia Booth, whom he had briefly dated in the weeks before meeting Kufrin.
But Underwood and Booth ultimately called it quits on Paradise‘s Sept. 3 episode, after the pro football player confessed he couldn’t see a long-term relationship panning out between them. Underwood later addressed the breakup in an Instagram post, thanking Booth for “teaching me even more about myself, and most importantly, for your friendship that I know will continue far beyond Paradise.”
“One thing I took pride in on both seasons was being true to who I am,” Underwood said on Tuesday’s Good Morning America broadcast, where the casting announcement was made. “It took all of that to get to where I’m at now and know who I am as a person and know what I want in a life partner.”
Season 23 of The Bachelor will debut at midseason on ABC, while Bachelor in Paradise‘s fifth season wraps Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 8/7c.

A young man that can value himself so much knowing that been a vergin is unpopular and is proud to say it I say, great choice. I hope he finds a valuable life partner who is deserving of him as much as he is of her.
I agree with Cc. I really didn’t think he would be the Bachelor but I’m glad he is. I just couldn’t see him & Tia together, she is too fake. He is not. He seems like a great young man. I liked Jason too, but Colton is best!

When are they going to have a Bachelor that isn’t white? They really need to diversify their Bachelor pool.
I really don’t think that their viewership would drop that significantly if the Bachelor was African American, Hispanic or Asian. After all, the show is so formulaic and established, the contestants are really no more than moving set dressing.
They went for a Hispanic bachelor ine season but apparently he was disliked.
Most of their viewers are white. Diversity is not the answer to everything. If you don’t like it, don’t watch.

what does color of skin have to do with anything ??this where racism comes to play ! theres been a black woman as bachelorette and why ??? because people loved her ,and they loved her, not her skin color !when a colored person is loved for who they are and people want that person as next bachelor it will happen and it wont happen just because of skin color ! and the proof of this came when a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart was chosen to be bachelorette , she wasnt chosen for her skin color .

I was hoping Jason would be chosen as the next bachelor. Colton has no personality. I will not watch. Since the Ari breakup and Jenna being so heartbroken but sprang back easily to be the next bachelorette and now choosing Colton??? I have little faith in the authenticity of the show.

It would be the tackiest thing ever if Colton loses his virginity in the Bachelor Fantasy Suite. I’m sure that is what the producers are most excited about. The “will he or won’t he” aspect is what they will promote. And how many girls will proclaim they are holding onto theirs as well to snag him? Ugh!

Never seen an episode of this franchise. Just came in the say I think this man is very attractive. That’s all.

Correct, the show got much more interesting the few episodes that they were off screen. Both are very dull with crying on cue their only personality traits.
He seemed totally not into Tia, which made me feel that he didn’t really know himself enough to be honest with himself!

Technically Nick had 4 chances. He was on Andi’s and Kaitlin’s season of the bachelorette, was on BIP, then became Bachelor. But I agree that Colton should be done with this franchsie, if not for his sake then for the viewers sake.

ABC or whoever decided to declare Colton Underwood to be the next bachelor are making a big mistake!! He just broked up with Tia because he doubts his feelings for her or he doesn’t think he could make her happy or nor he can make anyone happy because he’s not being sure of himself!! So, why would you think He’ll be ready to find someone or at least be brave enough to give happiness for the next woman?

i dont think its fair to say colton is unsure of himself , he just knew tia wasnt for him . anyone who is with right person will know when its right and moved forward with that person . colton deserves to find that person like anyone else .just because he knew tia wasnt for him doesnt mean hes unsure of himself , it just means hes sure tias not for him !

Wow. Whoever said that ABC execs were racist just got more evidence for their case. Yes the network’s programing head is black, but the producers behind the Bachelor franchise are subconsciously racist. I’m with a good number of people. It’s time for a black bachelor. I think that the head of ABC programing needs to put pressure on these producers and make a black bachelor a reality already.
Most of their viewship is white. Should Tyler Perry start making movies that cater to white people? Your assertions are absurd.
The only absurd assertion here is assuming that just because the majority of your audience is white means that they couldn’t possibly find people of colour attractive.

It was obvious to many Bachelorette viewers that Colton is gay. There’s no other reason that a man who isn’t devoutly religious would still be a virgin at his age, crying about his inability to connect with any women. Besides that, he doesn’t have much of a personality. What a boring season they have lined up.
